LG Pecan on Orange is recipe for affordable Android 2.2 tastiness
Orange are soon to bring the wonderful world of Android 2.2 to the masses with the LG Pecan, featuring a capacitive touchscreen and 3-megapixel camera for your social-networking pleasure.
Orange has added a delicious new ingredient to its buffet of affordable Android touchscreen phones with the picquant LG Pecan.
This little nutter sports a tasty TFT capacitive touchscreen, a 3-megapixel camera and runs Android 2.2 all enclosed in a neat and rather attractive little shell. Listed as coming soon, it's not going to win any awards for ground-breaking technology, but then neither is our kettle and we use that often enough.
Orange couldn't tell us exactly how big the screen is, or its resolution (thanks guys! big help!), but the phone's dimensions are a relatively dinky 114 by 59 by 13mm. That's a little shorter and wider than the comparably budgety Orange San Francisco, which has a 3.5-inch screen, but less gubbins round the bottom. Let's plump for 3.2 inches.
So, the marriage of a 3.2-inch touchscreen with Android's 2.2 Froyo could make this a mean social-networking device, allowing you to snap cheeky pics and videos of friends partaking in all manner of shenanigans and share them quickly and easily across your networks of choice.
Sadly there's no flash to assist your photography in dingy, underground pubs but that's all the more reason to get out and enjoy the sunshine that we're sure will be appearing any day now. The Pecan also features 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
The INQ Cloud Touch is a similar level handset and shares several features with the Pecan, but we doubt there'll be anything as useful as the handy Facebook widgets and Spotify media player. While we haven't had any official confirmation of the Pecan's pricing plans, similar phones are free on a £20 a month contract, or quite possibly even less.
