Short Take: AT&T to buy small Bay Area cable operator
AT&T Broadband & Internet Services, the company's cable TV unit and former Tele Communications Incorporated, said it intends to acquire a 28,000 subscriber strong cable system in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Palo Alto, California, owned by Cable Co-op. Terms of the cash deal were not disclosed and a definitive agreement is expected soon. Cable Co-op had partnered with high-speed Net access provider ISP Channel but is now likely to become part of @Home.
