Summary: This is more a manual type turntable, with automatic features. The arm alone is outstanding, but the low wow&flutter specs and low rumble are outstanding. The preamp is equal to what's on most receivers, but if you have a high preamp, it has a switch to turn the internal preamp off. It has magnetic anti-skate that will not change over time, and the cartridge mount is removal for easy change out. I bought mine at LP Gear which had an improved stylus included, however, if you buy a good table, you need to have equal or better cartridge/stylus. I personally bought Audio Technica AT440MLa cartridge with micro line stylus. This is competitive with the best moving magnet cartridges on the market. The record play is easy by having manual arm lift lever, and it returns automatically at the end. Now you can use the auto start feature, but record start grooves are not standardized and can cause problems like skips. The wow and flutter is low (max .1% WRMS) and the rumber is -60 (RATING UNKNOWN). I've had my Onkyo turned up pretty high and no low frequency rumble heard or felt (even through the subwoofer). With this new model, it's no longer required to buy a Thorens or a manual to get a good turntable.
