"plastic junk"
Pros: portability
Cons: cheapo ceramic cartridge
Summary: Good idea but they should have set it up to use a good quality magnetic cartridge. The cheapo ceramic type included has a higher output so they could make the unit at a lower price point as it does not need an on-board phono preamp. However the freq. range of the ceramic cartridge is severly limited and it tracks at a considerably higher force when compared to any magnetic cart. You're not doing your records any favors. This is the same cartridge they put in that old Soundesign and Yorx crap as well as most of those retro looking radio/turntable combos. I guess you gets what you pays for. If you need portability find an old Audio Technica Soundburger portable player- no speaker so you need to use phones but it has a magnetic cartridge and far superior sound.
