"Great Idea/Dumb Execution" on by Indibob
Pros: It actually records.
Cons: This is the dumbest execution of technology. You can't listen to the recording in real time! You have to guess when it's time to flip the album and it's impossible to only record specific tracks...because you can't hear it!
Summary: The Sony-bozo who designed this should be fired. Actually had a Sony "help" guy tell me the nature of the technology is that you can't listen while recording. (I know that not to be the case.) You have to guess when to put the recording on pause in order to flip the album. Pause between tracks? Good luck with that. I'll be returning mine to Amazon and looking for an alternative. I expected more from Sony. Putting something like this on the market is really stupid.

"All of it stinks!" on by rachelbeach
Pros: Pretty to look at
Cons: Software does not recognize tracks well: I played an album, both sides, and Sound Forge recognized only 2 tracks, side 1 and side 2. In order to list individual songs, I had to go back and insert tracks manually. Stupid pain.
I have an extra set of speSummary: This was a gift, so I have to keep it, but if I had bought it myself I would have sent it back a long time ago. Find another product and make sure you make sure you use different software.

"Works well with my Bose stereo and Mac computer" on by rthomaslyons
Pros: The turntable works well with my Bose stereo system and my Mac computer. I downloaded VinylStudio from the net which is rated highly. I tired the first 5 albums and then bought the software as it was relatively easy to use.
Cons: The Sony turntable played well with the Mac but why would anyone bundle Windows only software in this day and age. Shame on you Sony, you are such a good company and should be above that!
Summary: Sony makes great products! Buy the turntable, good price. Dump the software and buy VinylStudio to work with it. Once the albums are recorded you can play with the track identification and post production pop and hiss removal later.

"Does what it's supposed to do and well." on by skip1247
Pros: Good sound; easy to use; easy setup, simple, simple, simple.
Cons: Sure wish there was a stack-and-drop spindle available for this unit.

"Works as advertised." on by LarueTwo
Pros: Simple controls, works fine with stereo system and comuter. Fully compatible with Vista. Every Baby Boomer on planet Earth needs to get one.
Cons: Software (Audio Studio LE) is a demo version and, naturally, they will sell you the full up version for a "reasonable price." What you get will allow you to record tracks of an LP but not long comedy albums with no track breaks.
Summary: I have owned mine for about 6 months and transferred scads of "moldy oldies" to CD for my stereo and car. It's simple to use and the software (though limited) will record LP tracks and remove spurious "pops" and "snaps." I would recommend cleaning records before recording--it's amazing how much gunk gets in the grooves in 40 years. And, quite logically, neither the turntable or software will repair a damaged record.
I noted that one reviewer said he couldn't "hear the record while recording." This problem is easy to fix since there is a check box which allows the turntable input to play through the computer speakers. In this regard, however, the sound coming out of your computer speakers is noisy, scratchy, and garbled, no doubt because the computer's sound card can't keep up with the signal coming from the turntable. Download the final product to Windows Media Player and everything is where it should be and the quality is excellent.
Best bet--build your final CD with Widows Media Player and ignore any such function in the Audio Studio lineup. I tried to burn a CD with Audio Studio and it took about an hour.
Overall I've been completely satisfied with the turntable and marginally satisfied with the bogus software package. If you can work around the software and use it simply to get the tracks into the digital format you should be quite satisfied.
