    "Great unit" on by landlord012

Pros: II like the fact that it does what it is suppose to do.

Cons: I do not have any problems with thsi unit. Considering the problems that I had with other units I was just glad that this unit did what it was suppose to do.

Summary: This was the third of 3 converters I tried.
Tried magnavox unit from wal-mart. It only got 1 channel. Took it back to wal-mart and they had taken teh unit off the self. Wal-mart did not have any other units to sell.
Tried apex unit from Best Buy. This unit picked up more channels but the picture was scrambled and the picture rolled. Took this unit back to Best Buy. Sales rep said that this was a common problem with this unit. I asked why they sold a unit with a known problem. He said that they has a contract to sell the unit.
Exchanged trhe apex unit for the insignia unit. It works great

    "Average performance" on by carriepotter

    Pros: Improved my signal slightly.

Cons: Didn't improve my signal or picture as much as I'd hoped.

Summary: This review will be quick and dirty because I only just bought the product today so I could have a box before my govt. coupon expired. It seemed to work decently. I liked that the box was small and didn't take up much space. It fit right on top of old faithful, my 1990's Emerson TV. Using the box improved the picture and sound a little bit. I didn't have to turn the sound all the way up with the box connected, as other Insignia users have had to do. My only complaint is that I wish the picture and signal were a little better. I didn't see dramatic improvements the way some others did when they switched from analog to digital, but I didn't expect much of a change, as I live on the bottom floor of a multi-floor apartment building and had to use rabbit ears to pick up analog. So my viewing experience hasn't changed much. We'll see how things go after the switch on Feb. 17. I am satisfied for now, but ask me again in 30 days.

"Best box out of the three I have used" on by tubaloth

Pros: Easy to use and set up! Lets you set the zoom level for each channel. The signal finder is the best I have seen, it beeps so when you can't see the screen and are moving your antenna you can tell by the beeps if you are getting a better signal.

Cons: Controller is a little small, not made for people with give fingers. Channels that you have blocked or turned off still show up in the box to be selected. Wish they were gone completely.

Summary: I bought it at Best buy with one of the government coupons. I guess I was lucky, because the RCA one is cheap, another more expense one I bought online was crap! This was the best one of them all!

"Completely broke after less than a day - also broke TV!" on by astwerty

Pros: When it worked, we got a good picture and all of the available channels.

Cons: Broke after a very short period of use; Caused analog TV to malfunction after it was removed

Summary: My parents have two Insignia NS-DXA1s that have worked well since last summer, so I decided to try this newer model Insignia converter box. What a mistake! For about 5 minutes, the converter box worked well. We got a good, clear picture and all of the local digital channels. Set up was also quite easy. However, about 5 minutes after we completed set up, the picture completely blanked out and went to snow. I made sure the cable was attached properly and eventually the picture returned. So the box worked for a couple more hours and blanked out again. This time the picture returned on its own after a few minutes.
The next day we go to use the TV again. After a couple of minutes, we have nothing but snow. The converter box's menu won't appear. It's as if nothing is attached to the TV. We played around with it for about an hour, but the picture never returned. So, we removed the box, reattached the antenna, and prepared to watch regular analog TV. However, somehow the box had messed up my TV. Channel 16 was somehow coming in on channel 67. Channel 24 was now somewhere in the 90's. I have no idea how this happened. Perhaps it is just one big coincidence, but I never had a problem with this TV (which I've had for approx. 14 years) until now. I won't buy any more Insignia products - it's just too much of a risk.

    "Works well" on by schooder

Pros: buttons on the front are a good backup for a misplaced remote. Acquires the channel quickly unlike my Toshiba TV
which is way too slow. Aspect Ratio is available on the remote. But mainly it picks up stations fast and the remote will operate my TV

Cons: The TV program guide only gives you whats on next I would like to see whats on in maybe two hours from now. Although I have never used a Smart Antenna there is no provision for this

Summary: I need two of these boxes so I will probably get another one, with the rebate card it cast me around $200 at Radio Shack I also remember LG makes this box as well as the Zenith DTT-901 both are the same
