"cheap RCA junk" on
Pros: Easy to use, cheap $
Cons: In a little over 2 years, I have had two of these go out. The first one just lost half of the channels. The second one blew half of the power circuit on its board, smoking the board and the inside of the case. Both seemed to have an overheating problem, t

"hidden major problem" on
Summary: Be advised that if you use it to record a pay per view movie onto your VCR, and set it to record at a certain time, the picture by default goes blank and shows only a Directv RCA screen. It prevents using your VCR to record, which is probably what they want. DONT BUY IT! Also, the fan stays on all the time and can drive you nuts, even when it is off.

"You bought it, it's yours, RCA customer service is a joke!" on
Summary: Ultimate TV is great!! RCA just can not handle it. Two weeks out of warranty, reciever 2 goes out. Call them up and for $75 you get a replacment.........in, oh,it has been 6 weeks now. They couldn't care less. Sunday ticket, HBO, new fall season $80 a month to directv and they are not concerned a bit. If DirecTV has their company's name on it, why are they not concerned? "IndirecTV or unUltimate tv" "R"eally "C"rappy "A"ppliances. I will not do business with thompson electronics again.

"The smoking receiver" on
Summary: After one year the receiver began to short out and smoke in the middle of the night. This thing is dangerous. If you value your home do not purchase this box. There were no electrical disturbances in the area and no other electrical component in the house had problems.

"The DRD430RG is no better either" on
Summary: I had the DRD430RG for just 8 months before it crapped out. RCA will replace it under warranty for $96 (labor), where is the friggin logic in that? You can buy a new one for $65. The customer support blows as well. It took me 3 calls into the support center to convince them the reciever was dead and no amount of reseting was going to help it. go with the Samsung units instead.
