"Waste of money for this device"
Pros: just looks nice, nothing else it can do
Cons: Not work as it promised, built-in fan makes a lot of noise
Summary: Bought this device through one of online vendor, after setup, it crash my pc everytime I turn this thing on, call the tech support dept and spend hours with them on the phone, still won't work. Ends up return it back to vendor and I had to paid the restocking fees 15%. This is the first tech stuff which I ever return back to vendor. What a shame. Cnet.com shouldn't recommand this crap to it's honor readers. It's a joke. Instead I bought a basic Plextor video converter, it works perfectly, plus it cost much lower prices than Pinnacle stuff.

After working for months with on-line customer service (it was VERY slow), and following all of their advice, product still crashes. They even advised I needed an upgraded video card, which I did install, but it didn't help. Finally, I asked for a refund. Pinnacle advised me I could not return the product.

What model did you end up buying?

DVD recorders, are much cheaper, require no software and I assume are very much simpler.
It goes right on the DVD and guaranteed to play properly encoded.
Encoders available free for other wise formatted videos that you got from your computers video card (VCR piped movies), play on you computer, but so did the digital image you wanted to convert to DVD to put on the DVD. They don't play though, (when burned on a DVD), on most DVD machines.
