"Perfect for auto, RV, and slip-seat truckers!"
on by dlipsitzPros Versitile, portable, inexpensive, programmable
Cons Low transmit power (4 watt), no AC charger/power
Summary Perfect for road trips or even long commutes. This is one of the better handheld CB's out there, and includes attachment to convert it to mobile use (requires seperate mobile antenna, not included). Some truckers (myself included) have used these in place of bulkier mobile radios in our rigs when we drive unassigned rigs or do "yard" work for easy short range communication.
Range on this one, with matched antenna on typical midsize auto (not made of plastic) is roughly 1 mile daytime and 3 miles night time, as the power output is half the legal limit. This is do to the handheld nature, batteries simply wouldn't hold up to full power operations. Portable range is roughly half to one mile depending on weather and time of day.
Whether you are moving, vacationing, commuting, or just want to chat with nearby drivers and roadside services, this one fits the bill for most people.
