"Good price, decent quality" on
Summary: $10 was well spent, FRS 420 does its job fairly well. Different ring tones a nice touch. Perhaps too fragile chassis (plastic).

"Poor clarity" on
Summary: Try the audiovox FR530, if you don't mind w/o subcodes. Clearer voice. Got them for $30/pr from Walmart. Slightly better range as well.

"Page button too easy to press" on
Summary: Has all 14 channels and 38 subcodes, so it's great for any simple radio needs. The paging button is a little too easy to press by accident and annoy everyone else in the channel with an obnoxious page tone. Also the vibrating function is a bit too wimpy to be felt when the radio is hanging from a belt loop. In a pocket its fine. Great audio quality and excellent battery life with 3 AA batteries. A bargain at $15, reasonable at $20.

"Great (but Motorola is Best)" on
Summary: I've been using this for about a year now. My four year old twins even use them with me when going shopping so they won't get lost (and if a 4 year old is able to use it... that means is good!). Now, I'm about to change today with the Motorola T5100 that is a little more expensive but it has a better quality on the sound.

"Not Durable" on
Summary: I have gone through 2 of these things already. They function very well when they function but a small bounce, even one from a visor to a car seat, will render the thing useless. The first one took a drop from 3 feet onto concrete, I expected it to die and it did. The mic stayed on all the time and horrible feedback occured. The second one was slid across the living room carpet a distance of about 6 feet and the speaker quit working. I don't think they qualify as quality FAMILY radios. Treat them well and they have excellent range, sometimes three mile (1-1.5 in a car)and great sound quality, but that's when they work.
