"Crap hidden behind a titanium mask"
Pros: Physically durable unless used, touched or looked at funny
Cons: storage chips fail randomly after a day or more use
Summary: It breaks my heart to report after two failed drives and 90% of users reporting the same flaw; Scandisk Cruzer Titanium is indeed crap.
I regularily work between three personal computers and thought I'd found the solution. Most of my software can run from usb so my personal collection of tools travels instantly to any machine I sit infront of. Any crashed workstation needs only a basic OS install and I'm back in business with all apps including email, IM, office suite and 3d modeller.
I've had a 512 no-name brand usb for over two years and never even a distant hint of trouble. I get me a Sandisk because I need the durability and larger storage space. Three weeks after purchase I find the drive is suddenly unrecognized by all machines it's attached too. Plug it in, get a brief flicker from the blue led then nothing more interesting than a dead fish.
My second 1 gig titanium came care of warrenty replacement. Now five weeks later the drive begins the same game. Originally it would activate and work perfectly with five or less tries; plug/unplug/replug. Now nothing.
I will be asking my local computer shop what other drive they can offer as a warrenty replacement. This drive's 9.0 editor's rating is only skin deep. Trust your data to someone other than SanDisk.
