The DataTraveler comes with driver software for Windows 98, a brief pamphlet detailing hardware and driver installation, a cloth neck strap, and a keyring. It also comes preloaded with Kingston's TravelerSafe 1.1, a user-friendly program that lets you password-protect up to 90 percent of the drive. However, it's important to note that whenever you format the drive using TravelerSafe, all the files on the drive are deleted, including the TravelerSafe's instruction file. (Always drag a copy to your desktop before reformatting.)
Kingston's DataTraveler is available in a range of capacities from 64MB to 256MB. The 256MB model we tested costs around $83, or about 32 cents per megabyte--a little less expensive than average.

Keep looking - many better ones exist
Pros: The security software (Travelersafe) has been the most convenient to use. Very weak protection but would deter casual intruders. I've had this for over 1 year and have been using it as my main portable storage because of the software convenince.
Cons: Lost all of my (protected) data - nearly 1GB. Running Travelersafe to access my protected share results in a report that I do not have a protected share. Windows still shows that less than 100MB is on the drive (the other 900+MB are in the protected share

Wait until they fix the case
Pros: Fast and easy
Cons: Key chain is connected to the case not to the actual drive. THe case cracked in the first week. This allows the drive to fallout and be lost. I have 5 and all have this trouble. Kingston told me they are going to fix this problem but will not replace the

I have had 2 of them, and they both failed
Pros: Size and USB plug and play
Cons: I have had 2 1 GB Data travlers, only to have them both lose all their information. On top of this Kingston cannot recover any data. Sounds like they are having a problem with this particluar size. I own a 256MB Kingston and a 64MB microdevice and have no

Poor Password protection
Pros: Neat + carrying chain
Cons: Not as fast as the Sony sticks. Kingston Data Traveler UK is not good for password protection. BEWARE only user with administrator rights on a machine can use it. Therefore unable to secure data seperate from operating system.

It has a 5 year warranty!!
Pros: Longest warranty of any that I saw. Great product support my install question was answered fast and accurately, and it was follwed-up by a check-in call 10 days later.
Cons: Though it is among the largest out there, I bought this one because the business end separated from the key-ring end making it easier to plug into my PC.
