Manufacturer description
JumpDrive Secure is your answer for dependable and reliable storage of all types of files. With Safe Guard security software your confidential data will remain password protected, even if someone else tries to use your JumpDrive. Safe Guard is a software application that comes pre-loaded on the JumpDrive Secure allowing you to password protect files that are stored on the JumpDrive itself. It enables you to divide your JumpDrive into two different areas, or zones. The public zone has no password protection and is accessible by anyone using your JumpDrive. The private zone is password-protected so no one can open, copy, or write files to it without entering the correct password.Product summary
The good: Fairly small; sturdy construction; can password-protect data; very inexpensive per megabyte.
The bad: None.
The bottom line: Lexar's strong and sturdy JumpDrive Secure lets you password-protect your data and offers good value per megabyte.

The JumpDrive Secure comes loaded with Lexar's easy-to-use Safe Guard software, which lets you divide the drive into a public zone accessible to anyone and a private zone that you can password-protect. However, like most other minidrive password-protection apps, if you decide to change any of the settings, such as how many files you wish to password-protect, all of the files on the drive will be deleted. As with most of the minidrives we looked at, Windows 98 users will need driver software. Lexar makes its drivers available on its Web site.
The JumpDrive Secure comes in capacities ranging from 128MB to 512MB. The 256MB model costs about $64, or 25 cents per megabyte, which is very inexpensive.

Package instructions to acquire the drivers for Mac OSX were incorrect. The Apple website software, to which the instructions refer you, only includes the OS9 software; the Lexar website has the correct software for OSX but its identity ("STUC.dmg") is not intuitive.

Very good jumpdrive
Pros: It does come with the security software and I havent had any problems with mine and I've had mine for months and use it all the time. If youre gonna change the ratio of public to private save all of your files first at another location.

Pros: Bought my JumpDrive Secure 256MB over a year and a half ago. It worked flawlessly during that time, and yes, I had it on my keychain, and it got a lot of use between over 100 machines in our office, hauling updates and other files back and forth.
Cons: As many others have said, the drive dies unexpectedly. Mine actually died while plugged into my home computer. I had an important document open at the time, and suddenly the application froze, and it said it could no longer write to the JumpDrive. I pulle
