  • "GREAT Drive for the money"
    on by BadGuitar

    Pros Small, Strudy, Fast, Reliable

Cons Cap not captive - can get lost

Summary I purchased this drive after a bad experience with the Mini. The Mini I received was DOA and the vendor took it back. I was glad becasue it was cheap feeling and not sturdy. The Micro is VERY well made. All metal one-piece construction with a rubber sleeve for comfort and protection. It is very fast and has been a GREAT drive. They plastic connector on the end is sturdy and will not break off. Spend the extra 10 bucks and go Micro over the Mini!

  • "Loads software that conflicts with my CD/DVD drive"
    on by Captain Factoid

    Pros Very small; low cost

Cons Nasty software cannot be removed

Summary My 1 GByte cruzer micro has "U3" capability. This means it will infect your computer with some sort of software. I don't know what the software is supposed to do, or what it is doing on the sly, but it is causing me tons of headaches.

Instead of appearing as a standard drive, which was the case with my previous 256 MByte and 512 MByte SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB drives, this one appears as two drives. One of them is a CD drive and one is a regular drive.

After various attempts to delete the offending software, SanDisk tech support told me it could not be done. Meanwhile, I cannot use my USB CD/DVD reader.

I do not know what other harm the infection may cause, but I am not happy. I want my CD to work.

    SanDisk tech support says:

"Unfortunately the software cannot be removed completely from your flashdrive."

SanDisk, of course, states that the added features are worth any problems that may arise. I just want my USB drive to be a drive, nothing more.

My suggestion is to find some other company's product that doesn't load things behind your back. There must be others that are just as small and cheap.

    on by Soccer5

Pros Easy to use, fast file transfers

Cons None that I have seen so far

Summary This is my first experience using usb memory sticks. I really didn't think it was going to be so easy. All I had to do was plug it in and in seconds I was storing files on it.
