Pros Light weight makes it easy to throw a good distance when you are fed up with this piece of junk.
Cons Unreliable (in a number of ways), slooow, etc.
Summary Between a friend and I, we bought 3 of these. A summary of the problems:
Flash Drive 1: Worked fine when I put 10K of data on it. Filled it up to 2 gig and either the files or the directory structure became curupt (scrambled file names with happy faces and other random characters, files could not be opened). Reformatted the flash drive, copied another 2 gigs, same thing happened. Obviously bad RAM.
Flash Drive 2: The first time it was plug into the USB port Windows warns that the flash drive needs to be formatted. Formatted the drive, copied a file, ejected the drive, pluged it back in...Windows warns that the flash drive needs to be formatted. Obviously bad RAM.
Flash Drive 3: Didn't bother opening the package.
The two flash drives were tested on different PCs.
Okay, let's be generous and *assume* that the third drive was good...that is a 2/3 failure rate! SanDisk has some serious quality control problems (SansQuality?). I for one am not going to trust my data to any products from this company. To add insult to injury, it took several hours to put 2 gigs of data on this drive. This thing makes continental drift look fast.
A note to anyone buying a flash drive: test it by filling it with data. Who cares that "it works fine with 10K of data"? Let's see who is tearing their hair out when you put 1.9 gigs of "The Great American novel" to find out it's all gone to happy faces.
Pros Product seems to be sturdy. Compact size.
Cons Product has failed to be recognized many times over regardless of computer.
Summary Looking to purchase a reliable USB drive. Will not be another SanDisk.
Pros Low cost , small size good functionality
Cons I little slower that other flash drives and easy to lose cap
Summary I was surprised by the low rating of this device. I been using sandisk cruszer mini's for a while now. Mostly I have not had any problems with them. Only once has one gone out on me, my old 256 but I contacted sandisk, sent them the flash drive and they gave me a new one in a month. SanDisk stands by there product and it is a good product.
Pros Keychain-size compact, Nice skins, Attractive
Cons Slow data transfer
Summary I like the fact of carrying 2GB of whatever with me, or at least of having the possibility of taking my pen off of my keychain and hook it up to a friends computer to tranfer files. Unfortunately it is mighty slow, especially if you're going to tranfer a lot of small files. Now if you're only transfering a few, you probably won't note that it's a bit slow, which is fine with me. But don't think you'll be able to swap folders worth of files and files in anything less than 30-60 min. Not bad, but I think there probably are better 2GB sticks out there (anyone?)
Pros cheap, small
Cons they keep failing when I need them most!
Summary Dont think I'm writing a bad review because I'm stupid and broke this usb drive. This product has failed on me three seperate times. I've allready gotten 2 warantee replacements, for the two other times it failed and ruined my day/week/month.
the first time i thought i did something wrong, maybe i was too rough on it or i didn't eject it. Second time i thought was a component failure cause it showed up as a 0 byte drive. This time there is no reason for it to have failed.
If you want reliable go somewhere else!
