A very nice product
Pros: Is not a resource hog. Very good virus and spyware protection
Cons: A bit PRICEY!!!
All in all, Symantec has come up with a very good product that does not slow down the system. It runs very smoothly and is not jerky in the loading of the modules.
I am running a AMD 2.0 gig processor with 1.5 gig of memory and an Nvidia 5200 graphics card with 256meg of memory.
None of the hardware on my system is low-end. It is all name brand. That may be the reason some users are having dificulty in installing the software. Maybe not, but something to consider before you blame the manufacture.

Norton SystemWorks seriously flawed!!!
Pros: None TO CONSIDER ..!!
Cons: DO NOT BUY: Poor product CD and faulty Software
Failed at entry point when trying to enter the Serial number ... that box was disabled.
Technical Support said to uninstall previous version(s) of Norton; she did. Her next attempt to install again failed ... Serial Number box was disabled.
Technical Support said "I can transfer you back to the States to have an expert work with you step by step. That will cost $39.99."
RUDE!!! RUDE!!! (She could not return the product to the store, as they have a policy of "only exchange" for same product when opened.") This lovely lady is out $99.99 !!!
THIEF!!!!

Worse than prior versions
Pros: Can't Think of any
Cons: Clogs up the system - No options for advanced users
I have the 2003 version. I rarely use it since I started using zonealarm for protection. Also read my comment under Acronis version 8 to see why I stopped using the Norton Ghost. It seems that System mechanic version 5 is a better choice to clean up the clutter.
I downloaded trial version 7 of system works - It is incompatible with ZoneAlarm. It took a long time to install. Many features (Ghost, for example) are missing. It creates its own "protection" and back up files with no options. The "Go-back" feature is dangerous. It backs up and restores the entire system including all partitions - no option to choose a partition or folder and you could lose new data on other partitions when you run a "go back" restore. Even the mediocre Microsoft gives you a choice in monitoring and restoring each partition of the hard drive.
When I tried to uninstall and reinstall it - within the first day of trial - after a long wait to install, without any advance warning, it reversed the installation at the end, with an error code which, I do not care to decode. This happens every time I try to install it.
I have no recent experience with their service.
