"Poor Design and Engineering."
on by 100TruthPros Other than having worked one time after initial purchase, none.
Cons Simply does not live up to Hoover's product reputation. Poor brush assembly and design.
Summary I purchased the Hoover Max Extract at a local big box retailer in March of 2012.It worked adequately the first time I used it - not great but I really did not put much of a load on it. Indoor commercial grade carpet in a sun room. I cleaned and stored the machine. Second time I used it, the brushed worked ok for about 5 minutes then stopped working. Apparently the little plastic shaft that drives the circular brushes snapped off. The drive shaft appears to have a weakpoint with less than 1/4" of plastic that can be easily stressed and fail. This is a very poor engineering design. I can't see this machine lasting the duration of its warranty if it breaks down as the result of a poor design.
The brush assembly requires maintenance after every area you clean. The machine also needs to be cleaned frequently and can not be considered reliable. The product labeling also claims to have "Forced Heat" - this is a false claim. The only heat this machine produces is regulated by the heat of the tap water you fill it with.
I do not recommend purchasing this product.
