"Hold off if you plan to get Media Center Capabilities"
Pros: Hardware encdoder and connections
Cons: Overall video quality is mediocre
Summary: I'll start of saying that i use this with a laptop. I would only recommend this if you have a laptop. I would not recommend getting this device if Vista or Media Center Edition is in your future. I am not sure if MCE will recognize the device. The software that comes with the device is tolerable, but the programming guide is web-based. This is annoying because there are banner ads everywhere and its slower than what I have seen from MCE. All in all, after burning to a DVD, (very easy by the way through the program), the quality is not that bad on smaller tv's. Although the DVD+RW did not play on the Playstation 2, it played on 2 normal DVD players I have, and the computer. It also has built in DVD menu capabilities. Which is nice.
The most annoying part of the playback is the seeking. The maximum fast forward and rewind is only 10X!!! Very annoying because it does not remember where you were if you exited. This is the main reason why I would recommend waiting, and just getting a normal tuner, or dual tuner, and the Nvidia PureVideo software that works with MCE to decode the stream and take the load off the CPU.
