has never worked

Pros: sounds good when you read the box

Cons: installed this software 3 times. never worked as advertised. roxio support practically non-existent.

Review: would work for a bit after each install but then would fail with registry errors. installed it on a brand new high powered dell with the same results. roxio support is horrible.

User Rating: 10/10

Solid, Stable, REliable

Pros: Like the diversity of programs. Not many programs cover all media so well. The programs maximize editing and project possibilities.

Cons: It currently supports all my portable devices but I'm not sure about future ones. Maybe they need downloads for new devices.

Review: Its a relief to have a program that works with Vista instead of fighting it. I rarely get a Windows popup when running the programs. Quite a feat considering the number of programs. Many are separate programs but they're linked. I keep the dvd creator in memory so I can continually back up files while working. I can go to the whole program when I need to do more stuff like make labels, duplicate with virtual image, etc.

How did they pack so much in one suite?

Pros: Suite is jam filled with full functioning programs

Cons: Large suite so be ready

Review: Over many years I'm used to checking that suites have full running programs and not the smaller programs. Some companys want us to invest in their full featured programs and only give a taste of them in the suite. I can say this suite has everything without sacrificing quality. Photosuite is even better than my old program. It has cloning and panarama which my standalone didn't. The disk authoring is much more than burning. It contains menu templates and labels. Music is not confined to conversion either. There is an audio editor. Much for your money here.

Various programs for media

Pros: Can edit, change, and backup media

Cons: Like to see more templates to download

Review: If ever there was a real 'complete suite' I've tried this is the one. Every basic element related to digital media seems to be here. Even ones that don't fit that well are here. Most of us worry about disk authoring going astray for one reason or another. Roxio's step-by-step method is there to keep users from doing the wrong things. It can detect the disk type too. The disk utility is still needed as burning still comes up with errors. I don't know if it's the disk, the program, or the burner but it still happens. Props to roxio for the utility as it has saved many a disk from errors. Media program editors are basic. Photosuite seems to be have more advanced features. I haven't played with video enough to rate it. I have encoded video files though and the process came through nicely.

More like this please

Pros: Full of everything I needed

Cons: Where's streaming

Review: Getting Vista meant that most of my programs weren't working well. I could hold off on upgrading many programs but they were too old for Vista. Thank goodness for Easy Media Creator. With this I replaced many programs. My burning programs was too basic anyway and the added compression and format types are worth the price alone. Photo and video programs are more than enough for my needs. I never did a lot with music files but now I make playlists.

Does the job

Pros: Digital Media in its many forms can be dealt with this one program

Cons: Constant digital media changes means much is obsolete in a short period

Review: When I need something done right I use Easy Media. The old slow burning program I used to use had little choices. Now I can make dual layer, dvds for tv-dvds, and even blu-ray ones. I've cut down on errors too by using the given diagnostic features. It helps to know that a virtual image is made before the burning process starts. Before my old program copied track by track. It was tedious and unreliable. I can keep the virtual image and make as many copies as I want.

User Rating: 9/10

Highest rating for its gadget programs

Pros: Manages nearly all digital media

Cons: No fooling, it has many mini programs and takes space

Review: Never thought roxio would be in the gadget progrma game but digital media is heading more in that direction so it makes sense. Between my phone, ipod, and PSP I have my hands full managing media. I like to watch sports programs and my carrier has sports vids. The screen is small and the clips I like I want to see on a larger scale. I transfer to my pc and resize and reformat it the way I want. I also take phone videos and the quality isn't great. The roxio suite has good programs to make it sharper and cut it the way I want. I can go bakc on put it on any of my mobile gadgets too. Roxio hasn't forgotten about its bread & butter, disk burning. Works in a few steps. What's important is now HD and blu-ray are added.

User Rating: 8/10

Superb programs that work

Pros: Accurate disk creation and labels; portable device conversions

Cons: Can't copy encrypted disks

Review: I know that legally a company can't make copying disks legal. Honestly I'm not looking to sell disks but just to back up my bought ones. Anyway the rest of the features are outstanding. I can take any media file and send it to any of my portable devices. It burns disks fast and accurately. It has the tools to make indexes, labels, and menus. These things sound simple but the reality is that many programs are not accurate and I've spent too much time trying to calibrate the printer. The label maker worked perfectly after my first draft and fixes. I can't ask for much more.

User Rating: 8/10

Blends the best of digital media programs

Pros: Works with my mobile phone and tivo

Cons: Want to see downloadable extras in the future

Review: I researched media programs and found they are really different in the types of programs. Most concentrate on one type of media like music, video, or photo. I was surprised to find a suite that covered all the media plus a substantial disk burning program. The programs are sold individually but the suite puts them together and adds other side programs like an audio capture, backup utility, label printing. I didn't expect a big suite to have phone support but there it is. My old phone has no blutooth and I can't find a connector. I upgraded and now the photos and videos are swapped between my laptop and phone. I don't need to get a memory card since it's easy enough to dump them onto the pc. I can even reformat.
Tivo files are now under my control. I can edit, backup on disks, even make portable player versions. This beats having to delete shows to make room for others.

New users and old, this is useful

Pros: Kept up with new media needs like youtube, devices

Cons: No graphics editor

Review: I was using easy med 9 and thought it was the ultimate. I was wrong. 10 has added enough that it was worth it to upgrade after a year. The audio capture tool is better now that it can record audio that was streaming even before you started the recording. There is bluray, hd, dual layer disk burning. I like the options since I'm due for a new pc and haven't decided on the configuration yet. I do have a Sony Portable Playstation. The screen size is better than apple's although it is heavier. I find it to be a good media viewer now that I have roxio to take care of the media. It transfers video and lets me edit them to keep the space usage down. It supports ipod, zune, phones so again you have a wide choice.

Unreliable and Unusable-You Should Try Others

Pros: It will do what it says, but with unpredictable results

Cons: MyDVD has unpredictable results (read full opinion)

Review: I have purchased Easy Media Creator 8, 9 and now 10, and will not purchase any more versions. I have been disappointed with them all but have always given Roxio a second chance with each new release.

I recorded 1776, a musical, in MPEG2 format.

I used Roxio's MyDVD to make the DVD's. So far these are the problems you can expect to see when using this program:

All the video is un-synced to the audio by half a second. It did not matter whether I used MPEG2 video or WMV video files.

What you see on the screen is not what you get. Even though I meticulously manually made every chapter marker, the program decided to place them all one second behind where I chose, creating unintended effects and losing the impact intended.

The video quality varies and looks acceptable in some sections and looks unacceptable in others.

Yesterday my first DVD attempt produced a DVD that did not start at the beginning the the movie, even though I tested the playback of the DVD on the DVD Menu tester. It was supposed to start at the beginning as designed. Instead it started five minutes into the DVD, which was not even a chapter marker location. In fact, with that DVD I did yesterday I had not set up any chapter markers.

Conclusion: Roxio MyDVD is a program to be avoided at all costs. It is unreliable and therefore unusable. If one program is unreliable in the suite, how can anyone trust the rest of the software? I have uninstalled the suite for good.

Almost everything for digital media

Pros: Convenience and reliability

Cons: Not all are top of the line

Review: The good, it does nearly all digital media tasks. I just bought a new phone and asked the provider for software to deal with the phone media. It has to be special ordered so I did some research. Media 10 has cellphone media programs. Not only does it download but it also uploads, taking care of the resizing and reformatting. I can tinkle with media files and put them wherever like the phone, disks, and even the ipod. I would like to see streaming which is why I knocked down a few points.

Almost perfect-- Must Have Program

Pros: Digital Media essential suite

Cons: Would like to download more templates

Review: I use this suite so much my only complaint is that I would like to be able to download more menu styles. This isn't really a flaw and the rest of the program is so good I have to rate it perfect. It is easy to master all the programs as they have intuitive menus. If you know the difference between video, photo, and audio then you can use this cause thats how the menus are arranged. Example, transfer digital photos from the camera. Media creator can distinguish the camera type and transfers the photos. Media manager will seek out all photos on the drives. Photo suite has editing tools. You can stop there or make albums, collages, and slide shows. The program gives the option of sending to a device, youtube or a disc. All this is under the photo menu. Same for the other media types.

No troubles, excellent

Pros: everything I need is provided

Cons: Want more in music creation

Review: Very good with Vista and I have just 1GB RAM. It even works with video editing without stalling. My new HD camcorder is working overtime now that I know I cna quickly edit and delete the footage with emc10. There may be programs with more features but it's hard to find one that's so quick to learn. The chapter method of editing is brilliant.

User Rating: 2/10

Not a very helpful program

Pros: Lots of useless features

Cons: Everything Adverstised. None of the features work well at all.

Review: This software is just bad. The worst purchase I have every made in my life. That is all I need to say.

User Rating: 9/10

Loads of options for media

Pros: sound capture, video editing, youtube posting

Cons: would like video capture program

Review: I started to use a video capture program to document my beta testing for a friends' program. It was cheap and doesn't capture sound though. It turns out that EMC captures sound and the video editor combines soundtrack with the visuals. I found other ways to use EMC for my project. I could capture some snapshots from the video and put them in a slideshow or video file. I have the choice of any common format. I used to burn more disks for my friend but now I discovered that I can send the video to youtube. EMC converts to flv. I then fooled around with the sound capture on got some internet radio music. Connection quality sometimes affected the end result though. There is a static sound remover though to clean up the files. The cost wasn't much more than the price of just the video editor alone.

User Rating: 9/10

True Progress from 8

Pros: Added Device support

Cons: Maybe streaming media could be added

Review: For the last few years I used EMC 8 and resisted going to 9. With a rebate though I knew I needed something that could handle many of the new formats. This suite has up-to-date formats like tivo, youtube, mobile phones, ipods, PSP... take your pick. Even better is the improvements I see to the interface. I felt that some programs were not as accesible as I'd have liked but there are changes. The menu system really sticks to programs by media type so there isn't any guess work. Some tools can also be put in memory like the burning disks and audio capture.

absolute junk,

Pros: can't think of one

Cons: you name it

Review: This is the most frustrating piece of software I have ever purchased. installation problems, very buggy. don't waste your money, buy something else.
I wish CNET would have been more helpful with their review. saved me a lot of trouble

User Rating: 10/10

Additions to basics put this over the top

Pros: batch conversions, multiple disk ripping and burning

Cons: No major problems

Review: It's rare for me not to find something bad in a program but my experience has been so good I have to give it the highest rating. I should say I have a new pc with 3MB Ram, Intel dual processor. Perhaps the higher end pc specs helped performance. Anyway there is the Roxio 4 step burning making it the easiest burning program. If you have more than one burner you can rip several disks at once. It also burns several copies at once. The set disk menu styles are very good. It also has custom styles using photos and graphics. It has to be the best program for music. It has an id song feature. This data is used to print the contents, sort the songs, and make playlists. The playlists can be transferred to the iPod and other devices. The audio capture has given me another way to grab interviews, music, and sound effects. The audio fix tool removes hissing sounds. I'm enthusiastic about this program and I don't know how it could have been made better.

Significant new features from version 8

Pros: One software package for media

Cons: In-between novice and expert, not really either

Review: Version 8 was a good solid program. Did I need 10? It turns out that there are a lot of additions. The most prominent example is the power of the video programs. There is a one-step color, contrast, and brightness corrector. Special effects have expanded to 2 & 3D graphics. Even burning is better. There is a one-click disk burning feature. But most of all it has many device programs, probably because devices weren't as common as now. I could select all the options for video and photo transfer to my phone and the program kept the defaults. In general all the programs have improved so it's a good thing for both new users and users of older versions.

Recommend highly

Pros: Meets digital media needs

Cons: Like to see more in the music creator

Review: I had my doubts, especially when faced with such a large program. Got to hand it to roxio though. They pulled off a large programs with nearly error free performance. The audio programs may seem similar to others but there are some outstanding features. I can record internet audio. The program will also backtrack and copy audio that played before the recording started. There's a list of music genres to pick from so you can easily make tracks. They are adequate so don't expect a true composer program. However it is more than I expected and I see it as a good extra. I can rip my disks easily. It burns disks well which is the core of the program. Still the rest of the features have to be good enough to justify the space it takes and it passes the test.

User Rating: 9/10

Long time user for a reason...It's a great program

Pros: Multiple programs work together to create media projects

Cons: Performance is tied to pc performance

Review: I started with creator 7.5 and have been hooked ever since. The speed is affected by the type of pc though. This is true for many programs but media really shows the difference in a pc's ability. Watching videos is already affected by the specs so editing of course goes better with a better pc. Version 9 was okay on a 512MB XP pc. Version 10 on a 2MB Vista is light years ahead. The conversions are quicker and I can do more with video without having any stalls. And since I got this program I have been making use more of my zune. I clip the video with VideoWave. There are good compression options. When I connect the Zune to the pc the device manager converts the video to the device. Ditto for music. I've started making more slide shows too since I can play them on the zune. It's a handy program and I don't know who anyone can do without it these days.

User Rating: 8/10

Wish I had discovered this much earlier

Pros: No more headaches re: program conflicts, researching the best program in each genre

Cons: Like most programs once you learn the program every version is easier to learn, but other programs take time to learn again

Review: I was using a good photo/graphic editor, a so-so video editor, and the pc given disk authoring program. I also had conflicts when I opened up more than 1 program. I like that the suite has all the programs and they are under one menu. In some programs you don't even have to leave the program. Take photo slide show. Double click on a photo and an editor comes up. It is not the same as the full editor but it does basics. It's not a real hassle to go to the full editor and resize and fix the photo too. VideoWave is much better than my old program. There is a quick tip on how to select video sections and delete them. Anyone can add titles too. Other functions such as soundtrack and effects get trickier but it's worth learning.

User Rating: 9/10

Amazing stable, robust, and functional programs

Pros: Has basic digital media tasks covered and then some

Cons: Okay on XP but it flies on Vista, of course the vista pc is much better too

Review: Many other programs have crashed while trying to to the simpliest tasks but not this one. I can make a whole video project and not worry about unexpected freezing. No troubles with instlal. Once the install shield got going it ran by itself. It even started right away although I noticed that first time you use each program there was a bit of lag time. That disappeared after the 1st time though. I can't say enough about how good the featues are. I didn't think anyone would make a program that supports PSP, cellphones, ipod, and other mp3 players. This plus comprehensive disk burning, even blu-ray. I couldn't ask for more.

User Rating: 3/10

Abysmall.. don't buy.

Pros: None, I cannot get it to work.

Cons: Many, nothing works and is slow

Review: I have updated my computer to handle the requirements prior to purchasing the program
There are too many system changes to try to make it work. If you go to the Roxio user pages, many helpful guys try to help but there are too many things to do, registry changes, driver upgrades, disconnecting the antivirus, too much for the average user.
STAY AWAY !!!

Could not install

Pros: Received quick refund

Cons: Could not download uncorrupted file.

Review: After numerous attempts I could not download an uncorrupted file of this software even with anitvirus turned off.
I did, however, receive a prompt refund from the online
retailer.

User Rating: 5/10

Disappointing

Pros: pretty fast

Cons: too much on screen

Review: EMC 9 was difficult, so I went for upgrade to 10 figuring they addressed obvious problems. Not so. Years ago, started with 7.5 , which was slower, but layout made more sense. Changed OS from XP to Vista, and now no version works--need to buy new software, will definitely shop around.

Great Suite, Many tools, Works Great,

Pros: All the programs work great like they should. very easy to use

Cons: Install is too long, Some of the programs take a while to start up

Review: The program works great. The install was far to long, although it was better then previous versions. Copied CD's without a hitch and was very easy. The photo tools were ver basic but great for a novice. Makes music cd's quickly. I haven't tried the video apps yet but im sure they are very basic and work well. I haven't needed any support for this product haven't seen any errors yet. Great over all suite.

Beyond simple Wizard tasks this software discourages learning the product

Pros: Easy Wizards for simple tasks

Cons: Useless help menu (think Microsoft help). Nothing better online. Live Chat difficult to locate.

Review: To get a manual (the "help" menu was useless when I tried to learn how to break a DVDs menu into different selectable chapters that I wanted to create) I had to find their on-line chat - which was really a pain to do (good luck). And their on-line rep was a tad snitty but sent me to a link where I could download a PDF manual (something they don't include with their product). An earlier session w/the on-line chat over an installation problem yeilded an annoying go round of bad info, wasting an hours time on that info and having to reopen the chat to get a straight answer from a snitty rep! I would rethink buying this program if I knew how poorly the company treats their customers.

User Rating: 2/10

Worst piece of software ever written

Pros: Only pro is that it can be uninstalled

Cons: Expensive useless bloatware

Review: This must be the worst $90 I've ever spent. The software constantly hangs and eats up system resources like crazy. I've updated every single driver on my system (DVD, video card...etc) and nothing seems to work. Save your money and buy something else.

User Rating: 2/10

Has Many Features Does None Well

Pros: Does Good Job of Burning Your $100.00

Cons: The Whole Program is a Con

Review: I usually take some user reviews with a grain of salt chocking it up to inexperience poor system resources etc. but the negative reviews of this product are right on. I have a powerful system and are pretty good with working through problems but this software eats system resources, it is slow, bloated and for all it's features it does not do one even reasonably well. I have yet to be able to burn a large video file, which is why I bought it. There are an abundance of audio softwareout there, some for free which do just as well as this. So if you are looking for a video solution, look elsewhere, that is unless you have 100 bucks to contribute to Roxio. The absolute worse software purchase I have ever made bar none!

User Rating: 2/10

Horrible! Roxio still can't get it right

Pros: none - wouldn't install properly on my Vista machine

Cons: wouldn't install properly on my Vista machine

Review: Way back when it was Adaptec Easy CD Creator this was good software. With version 6, about the time it became Roxio, it began having problems. Those problems caused me to turn to Nero 6.
I returned to Roxio with the introduction of version 7, primarily for the video creation portion. Unfortunately, their video creation module was rife with problems so I purchsed Sonic My DVD which filled the bill. Sonic bought Roxio so I thought that perhaps the DVD module of Roxio would improve in Easy Media Creator 8. The same problems persisted. Back to Nero along with the purchse of a dedicated DVD creating package.
Easy Media Creator 10 was given stellar reviews in trade publications and I wanted something a bit smoother than Nero so I purchased EMC 10.
Contrary to the box label, this software is not Vista compatible. It may or may not install properly. In my case, it did not. In fact, it created numerous problems which required a complete disk format and re-installation of Vista and all my software.
In reading the forum on the Roxio site I learned that my problem was not an isolated case. If you are using Vists and Roxio did not come packaged and installed on your machine, I would advise purchasing Nero.

Doesn't work with Vista 64

Pros: Claims to do everything and doesn't

Cons: Works sometimes mostly not

Review: Installed this on a computer with Vista 64 and it bombed on me. I call it pukeware because it is a suite of discontinued applications such as Videowave. It appears that the manufacturer has vomited into a bag and given this lame collection of software tools a shiny new box that visually promises to take care of all your multimedia tasks. Instead it installs a spyware thing called Roxio Tray Watcher in your startup applications. Then it takes forever to load and bogs down even with 4GB of RAM. A frustrating experience indeed. To top it off you can't get your money back and manufacturers website is a dismal jumble of updates and patches that take forever to download.

User Rating: 3/10

Absolutely Catastrophic

Pros: Nicely printed Manual

Cons: Thinly spread out tripe

Review: I bought this product with the idea it would make Youtube uploads a snap. Forget it. For $100 I expect a feature pact, intuitive software package that will help me. The managing development overseer is thinking, you mean you didn't know that, and throws in your face window to window. Roxio easy cd creator 5 was real nice. Roxio was great in the old days before they became old and jaded. Now you halfto pay for support. What a load of crap. They know you can't use it and are ready to make you pay again and again. It covers too many aspects of the whole media realm to be effective. Movie editing software should be movie editing software and not try to be all things to all people and stink at it. I've downloaded better free software. I'm very disapointed.

User Rating: 9/10

Wonderful Product!

Pros: Works well with all media formats.

Cons: None that I found yet.

Review: Great product, works excellent, with windows Vista.

USELESS BLOATWARE

Pros: IT RUNS. ALMOST.

Cons: EVERYTHING.

Review: I've now lots of experience with Sonic and Roxio software, and each and every time I've tried them there were abysmal results. Easy Media Creator 10 is no exception. After 90 minutes of trying to get the program to load and run at an acceptable speed, I abandoned it. Then, get this, I uninstalled everything in the Windows-recommended manner, and the system Blue-Screened into Check Disk at restart. This has happened MAYBE one other time in the 2 1/2 years this computer has been in use. Look elsewhere, other than Roxio or Sonic for sane software.
