Manufacturer description
The DMR-E75VS is a progressive scan DVD-video recorder with built-in VCR - records to DVD-RAM and DVD-R discs. You sit down to watch this week's episode of your favorite show and realize that you never got around to watching your recording of last week's episode. Not a problem with Time Slip, featuring simultaneous record and play. Select this week's episode in the program guide, start recording, and as it records you can watch your recording of last week's episode. What if you set up your DVD recorder to record a movie from 8: 00 to 10: 00 while you're out, but dinner was faster than you expected and you get home early? With the Chasing Playback feature, you don't have to wait for the program to finish recording in order to watch it. You can begin watching the portion of the program that has already been saved while the DVD recorder continues recording the remainder of the program. If you own a VCR, it's almost certain that at some point someone has accidentally recorded over a movie or show that you wanted to keep. One-Touch Record will save your favorite programs from the same fate by automatically scanning the disc for blank space before starting the recording process. No more worries that your favorite sitcom's season finale will be overwritten by a family member's Sunday fishing show. You and your family are sure to enjoy the convenience of your DVD recorder so much that you'll have a large library of recordings in no time. Keeping track of all those programs would be difficult if it weren't for our enhanced Direct Navigator, which displays thumbnails of every program on the disc as you browse, making it easy to identify the contents of each recording. It can be heartbreaking when you play an old VHS home video and find that years of playback have degraded the image and sound quality. Preserve your precious VHS tapes by transferring them to DVD-R/RAM, which will provide durability and many years of enjoyment. With One-Touch 2-Way Transfer, you can dub a VHS tape to DVD-R/RAM by pushing a single button. The goal of any playback device should be accurate reproduction of the original content. In the case of DVDs, most of that content is film-based. Utilizing advanced progressive scan playback techniques and very accurate MPEG video decoders, this DVD recorder provides an image that faithfully represents the image you see at your favorite movie theater.User opinions

Great machine once you learn how to operate it properly!
Pros: Great and reasonably simple for dubbing from tape to DVD and visa versa. Recording quality is very good. There is a $50 rebate available "online" for this machine until sometime in December 2004.
Cons: Directions and remote were harder to comprehend than I expected. More features than I expected and will do lots of cool things. However, it Won't record or play a DVD-RW, which is bad while trying to learn to operate the machine. I screwed up a few DVD-R

1 disc, one use. No copies allowed
Pros: Makes a fine master for playback on home DVD players.
Cons: After spending hours making a master of family home movies, the finished product media (DVD-R) cannot be copied for other family members to enjoy via 3rd party software on my PC using either Roxio/Nero/ and my DVD burner. The burned copy will only play o

Product delivers on its promise
Pros: Easy set up, nice functionality, remote very user friendly.
Cons: Manual could have been more clear on certain issues. (E.g. Does 1-1 dubbing auto finalize?)

I Think I Love IT!!!
Pros: dubbing from vcr to dvd and vice versa while wathching another tuner. Fast and quiet. you are able to erase certain clips and still have your DVD-R media available to record unlike computer media.
Cons: A little complex to work with direct tv. I have only had this for 5 hours and am trying to figure out if I can ever record channels in the 500's.

Great Recording Quality
Pros: I have only had this thing a week and have recorded around 15 movies. The quality is as good as the source I recorded from. The Flex-Recording feature is really neat. It puts the quality at exactly the amount of time you're recording.
Cons: A little hard to learn. I had to read the manual for several things, but once I got them down, it wasn't hard at all. On my unit the component outputs were messed up. The blue and green had to be switched. But other than that, everything is absolutely
