"a big disappointment"
Pros: features and recording quality
Cons: unreliable timer recording
Summary: During the past month I have returned three of these recorders. All of them had the same problem. After working just fine for about one week they stop making timer recordings when the unit is turned off. If you turn on the machine during the time when it is suppossed to be recording it will start recording at that point. I called Panasonic and received a firmware update by mail, but it did not help. Apparently others have had the same problem with this machine, however, there also seem to be many people who are very happy with this recorder. I am now trying to decide if I should try my luck with a 4th or wait a few months for the new models to come out. I've looked at other recorders on the market now and this is the one I want, but only if it works!

I had exactly the same problems. Problem started after one week. However, the problem went away a week later, and has been working fine now for about 2 weeks. I am totally pleased with the unit which I bought boxing day.
