Pros Easy to program. Plays VHS and DVD ok.
Cons Can't view burned DVD's on other DVD players.
Summary DVD's burned from programmed TV programs won't play on other DVD players. Clock won't set automatically and loses 30 seconds per week. DVD's burned from VHS won't play on other DVD players. Panasonic customer service isn't much help either.

Pros nice for putting home movies on to DVD
Cons degrades the signal to the TV, does not last
Summary It was OK when I first got it other than when using the built in tuner to watch TV the picture would have lines in it like bad reception. I could record a show and play the DVD on another TV and the lines weren't there so I guess it was just a weak signal output for some reason. As long as I didn't use the built in tuner the picture was fine. Then after 4 months the thing just started turning itself off and on. We tried unplugging it for a while and using the reset but nothing helped. Even tried another outlet but the unit still just turns itself on for a minut then back off for a minut then back on. To top it off wee were in the process of transferring old home movies to DVD when it went out, we got the tape out with no problem but the DVD will not come out at all. My advice is to stay away from this one.
Pros good quality recording both VHS and DVD
Cons quirky and akward programming
Summary As above, I love the quality of the recording but meandering through the recording menu is quirky and not obvious. I love the ease of the onscreen menu RCA and others have used and really wish Panasonic would use something similar. I have no solid idea how to implement a second recorder in the same setup (no vcr2 option)
I had a programming implementiation issue and after calling Panasonic, received a firmware CD update in two days.
Pros I found the LXI-Sears TV codes
Cons After I return it I Have to go back to lugging around all that money again
Summary If I dropped the DMR-EZ47VK a VHS tape and a DVD-disc out my window. Which would hit the ground fist? The DMR-EZ47VK of course. I would never waste a DVD or VHS tape. OK maybe a little harsh. BUT I gotta tell ya. This thing is anything but EZ. The manual is not a lot of help. In fact I was curious so I measured with a micrometer. Its 3/16" thick. but to be fair the last 3 pages are in Spanish. there are NOTES such as. the return button will return you to the previous menu. but not in all cases. to exit a screen press return button several times. how many times. (and if that don't work through the remote across the room.) there are useful tips as well.(PG 17)to stop play press stop. During playing while you are recording. you cannot edit or delete recordings. personally I've always found it easier to delete a recording after I recorded it. But that's just me. Oh wait here's why I dont understand this. I'm in the advanced recording section. You will spend a lot of time jumping back an forth to pages you've already read. In the on screen menus there is seldom an exit option. You will however get a crash course in DVD recorders. Which is actually a plus. At least I know which features are most important to me. This was my first DVD recorder. I thought this is great! there is not one type of DVD format that this thing can't handle. However, If you plan to do editing. Such as, you recorded a movie or football game. And then want to speed through and edit out all the commercials. It can be done. But only if you record on DVD-RAM discs. It is most misleading when it says that chapters are in 5-min. 8-min. or ram-variable formats. These formats are what dictate how editing procedures will be done. DVD-RAM discs are the most expensive discs on the market. And the hardest to come by. Radio shack Best buy Circuit city. don't stock them. At least not here anyway. The digital picture card outlet is a nice feature. especially if you don't have a computer to put them onto a DVD. But if you don't have a computer. these Perls of wisdom are of no use to you anyway. last If you decided to keep yours but had the misfortune of owning a Sears LXI-TV. And were disappointed as I was that there were no codes for the remote. cheer up! I found those pesky codes on the web. So here you go. This fist code should work most LXI-TVs
0047/0054/0056/0154/0156 Last if you find a set of 2 digit codes. but the remote calls for 4 digit codes. do what I did here. Just put 1 or 2 zeros in front. For me I think I'll wait till the smoke clears. I don't believe they have all the bugs worked out for home use yet. I know my review was negative. But there seemed to be plenty of reviews that covered the good. Good luck
Pros Quality Recordings
Cons System Forze
Summary The Recorder has good quality recordings, bu after one week of use, the system froze and would not respond to resets or anything. I had to return it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad couldn't unfreeze the system while I waited. I just returned the system.
