Pros Features, but the unit rarely works
Cons The unit constantly malfunctions. It is very slow to accept and register settings. It can take 5-10 minutes to power on just to insert or change disk. It frequently must be unplugged and allowed to reset.
Summary Tonight, we tried to add recordings for which there was plenty of room on the disk which worked before we left. Came home to "disc improperly formatted" So we not only lost the program scheduled tonight, but the last two nights also. I had replayed part of one last night, the disc was fine then, but somehow the Panasonic reformatted the disk incorrectly while we were gone. Run away from this unit.
Pros has both DVD and VHS recording capability and digital tuner for digital antenna TV
Cons The unit is very slow to start, though it initially was faster. Hear one cannot record digital antenna TV broadcasts
Summary When I first bought this unit, I thought it worked decently. It powered on fast initially. However after about 2 months, the unit takes about a minute to power on --for what reason for this change, I don't know and cannot explain. I tried to reset it and it still powers on slowly. My mom eventually needed a VCR after a Toshiba broke down. I gave the Panasonic to her and she claims she cannot record digital antenna TV broadcasts, though I never tried it personally.
I recently bought a Toshiba DVR670 and it, for now, powers on instantly and I tested it, it records digital antenna as well as DVD through the composite outputs onto VHS at least.
Pros Plays movies good and records off air great. copies tapes great.
Cons absolutely will not record anything off the composite and s video inputs to dvd so recording from tv is definitely out. Only records to vhs from it. So, you have to record to vhs and then copy from vhs to dvd. takes 4 hours for most football games that w
Summary best on market when I bought it but not now, however it has lasted over 5 years and still burnes great.
Pros Well made and seems to play both DVDs and VHS tapes fine.
Cons Won't copy store bought movies to DVD
Summary I bought this product to convert my old VHS movie tapes to DVD. My VHS player died and I can't seem to find a new one. So, I thought it was time to get rid of them. I'm not trying to rip off movies. I already purchased the VHS tapes from the store. I just want to watch what I paid for. I installed a new blank disk and the movie I wanted to digitize and hit record. The player promptly warned me about copy righted movies and as a punishment ruined the new disk I put in. Maybe this is a no brainer for many people...
Pros None. Will it does power up.
Cons Can't record anything it considers HD quality. Changing TV channels is an obsolete nightmare. First response is to jump to fast forward but it will stay set for a moment but jump back and forth and your never sure which channel it will settle on.
Summary Un-usable and waste of money. Hate it.
