The Bottom Line Despite a few nice features, the Philips DVDR600VR's difficult interface and below-average video quality keep it from competing well. With easy-as-pie operation, Lite-On's LVC-9006 VHS/DVD combo recorder is a great choice for beginners and just about everyone else that's looking to turn their VHS tapes into DVDs. While its inability to place chapter stops on DVDs is a bummer, this capable dubber shines in most other areas. If you have a pile of old VHS tapes you want archived to DVD, GoVideo's new VHS-to-DVD deck makes it easier than ever. The GoVideo VR3930 is perfect for archiving your noncopyrighted VHS and DV home movies to DVD, but it's no better for recording TV than your current VCR.
