"Works for me"
Pros: Good as a timeshift DVR with decent size hard drive, The picture quality is good.
Cons: User interface is poorly designed. Quite a unique design, but noone can understand it without lots of time learning it.
Summary: A piece of good hardware, but the software user interface is poorly designed. Remote is also poorly designed. The product manager is guilty for the poor software and the remote design.
I gave a 9 rating because I do not think people should not completely deny this unit. It depends on what you are looking for. To me, I do not care much about DVD and the TV guide. To copy a DVD, I would use my computer. To have TV guide, I would buy a Tivo.
Another BIG reason for me to be happy with this device is that it is quite cheap comparing to other DVDRs. I bought it for only $199 at Costco. I see at least $376 on any other places including online shops. Hope this will help.

Still undecided. I've had this player (purchased for $199.00 @ costco) for only a day so far it took about 3 hours to get it hooked up and the basic functions working. The tv picture was distorted when wathcing tv through the players tuner. I had multiple devices (dvd player, vcr, ps2, game cube) next to the unit which was causing the interference. The picture cleared up when the unit was placed away from the other devises. I'm still trying to work out a few other bugs with the programming. I would not recomend this product to anyone looking for a user friendly recorder. I'll conclude my review when I've had some more time with the unit.
