"Best to stay away"on by JMWolf9
Pros Easy to use, impressive, and replaces most of the devices in your TV stand
Cons reboots regularly, poor quality, you'll most likely have to send this unit back
Summary Owned this thing for over a year, sending it back this weekend for warenty repair. Beyond the poor picture quality, (which we chopped up to a sacrifice necessary for the convenience of a single unit), the until will just decide to hang up for an hour or so, and then reboot. Here's the wonderful part though, when it reboots, it hangs during the power-on process. Let's hope you don't have anything good scheduled for TIVO, cause you're not going to get to see it. Normally, I'd just say my unit is a lemon, but look at all these other posts, others are experencing this problem too. This until is flawed, don't buy it. If you own one, find the receipt and take it back while you still can.
Pros Tons of features
Cons Poor quality
Summary Purchased it in July of 2004. It died in October. Had it serviced. Died again in June. Now that TIVO offers recording via your networked PC's DVD recorder, this unit is really obsoleted.
Pros Easy to use!! Love Tivo. My wife even programs it. Great features and the picture quality is excellent
Cons $$$ price was steep. Would like to be able to edit as i record but hell this thing is great
Pros Price ($400 at Tweeter yesterday on clearance), TIVO features
Cons Can't watch HD with this unit (unless willing to view at lower-than-HD quality); can't copy directly from VCR to DVD--must copy to hard drive first (at least I haven't figured out how to do so yet!)
Pros excellent system
Cons expensive plus monthly fee. you can get panosonic without tivo and no monthly fee
