"Utter Crap, Lousy Tech Support & Customer Support"
Pros: Plays from USB, DivX Ultra, Plays most any format
Cons: Slow to read USB
Summary: I bought this unit on April 1 of 2008. By May 2, I was writing to the retailer in Atlanta (bought it over the interweb), but of course the 30-day return period had run out. So I wrote to RCA and didn't receive a response until July 18 (the unit only has a 90-day warranty). The USB portion of the unit would lock up the machine when trying to read from it (I tried thumbdrives from Kingston, SONY, you name it). The only way to recover from this was to unplug the player and "press the power button ten to fifteen times", according to the email from RCA. Which of course didn't work. And now, barely four month into owning this, it's now locking when reading from discs. I had a previous model (without the USB) and it was a fine machine until i wore it out. I like it because it played any format you threw at it (WMA, WMV, DVD, AVI, DIVX, MPG...etc). This DRC285 and put me off RCA at all. There's a similar Philips I liked better, but didn't like the remote....Guess I'm getting a philips. The USB feature on ANY dvd player is the best thing since the dvd player!
