No need to connect to any one machine. Dual tuner capability with simultaneous dual recording. Auto switching to 100 Mbps or Gigabit ethernet speeds. Fast and easy setup.
Front-end OK for TV viewing. Recording functionality not available in the software provided. Use other software to get record functionality. Some packet loss while viewing HD channels;not clear if this gets better with better hardware and networking.

I was looking for a tuner that I could use with my mythtv setup. But then, I wanted to run my mythtv on a high end vmware virtualized machine. So a regular tuner is not an option. And HDHomeRun fits in perfectly in this setup. If it can work in this setup, it can work on a regular setup easily.
My setup has VMware machine with mythtv and a dual tuner HDHomerun device. The tuner is connected on a 100 Mbps switch along with the machine running mythtv. I am sure a faster switch will further improve the performance.
Mythtv is able to recognize the tuner without any difficulty and is currently able to record programs on both tuners. I am also able to watch live TV from individual laptops running windows as well. This gives me the ability to watch 3 different programs at any given time; one on the TV, and two on two different computers. Though the HD channels dropped some packets during the live TV, the recording of HD channels using mythtv has been much better.
Setting up the tuner for a regular windows machine is very simple. The device automatically gets an IP address from your network router. However it also gives you a 'not so easy' option to set a static IP. The software that comes with the device is very easy to install and automatically recognizes the device and the tuners on the network. The only requirement, I guess, is they need to be on the same subnet. This is probably the case for most of the users.
Working with other software: The setup gives options to work with other media center software like XBMC, Mythtv etc. If XBMC is already installed, it would create the channel lineup for XBMC, so you can use XBMC to watch live TV.
Tuning: The device is able to recognize all available channels including any music channels. If you dont' have a mythtv setup for recording, then there are other options using Videolan VLC player.
Live TV is good even on 54 Mbps wireless network, except for the HD channels which is understandable. They should have built in some easy functionality for recording but not sure what the legal implications or license required for that.
Overall it's very good product for its price and I am happy with what I have been able to do with this tuner. I use a combination of MythTV, XBMC to record and watch.
