"Dont waste your money" on by bsd300d

    Pros: can watch tv anywhere

    Cons: picture quality

Summary: I wound not tell anyone too buy this product. I bought it too watch tv on my laptop and hooked it up to my digital HD cable box (s-video) Is all you can do. The pic usually looks horrible even on the HD channel. And when the stream gets low the sounds cuts out and then the video and the audio never sync up again. Great concept. Wish it worked.

This damn this cost me 250 bucks and i then another 50 for a stupid router and another 50 to get the OPITIONAL hd hookup (which is only composite) not HDMI. WHat a waste of money. why cant these stupid people figure out that eveything is HDMI now and put it in their product......

Bothering to check your spelling would probably give more creedence to your ability to critique a product. Respect is earned. And vulgarity does not add anything to your opinion.

A couple of comments. Considering that an HDMI cable typically pushes up against the $100 mark alone, it seems odd to complain about a $50 dongle for HD support, and another $50 for a router which the Slingbox Pro didn't 'force' anyone to buy, and then knock the product for lack of HDMI support. I'm sure Slingmedia isn't trying to trick people into setting up home networks. Also, HDMI and DVI connections all have legal hoops to jump through and this product would most definitely get Slingmedia sued by the cable industry if they had any leverage at all.

Given that the video is compressed and sent over IP anyhow, there isn't going to be any practical difference between component and digital outputs regardless.

I think the score of 4 is unfairly low and much of the problem this user has is self-inflicted.

you don't know what your talking about. You've had negative things to say about 3 or 4 products and they've all received great ratings. Did it ever occur to you that you might not be technologically inclined. I think most of your problems are related to operator error. By the way, everything isn't hdmi. Only a fraction of american households have hd televisions and some of them have dvi. Just because you can afford a big tv doesn't mean you understand technology.
