"Good DVP, Great CD!"
Pros: Great price for a 5 disc changer, Does good job syncing audio and video when routed through other AV equipment, Easy setup, Holds your place in up to 40 disks, Simultaneous listen & disk exchange
Cons: Can't shuffle between disks (only within one disk), Horrible styling (come on Sony) and rather larger (even for a disc changer)
Summary: Picked this up last weekend for $129 at Circuit City. Was really looking for a new multi-format CD player to replace my aged Sony single disc model. Not only can this play virtually everything I've tried (including MP3, WMA, Superaudio CDs, CD-R, CD-RW Data (!) and Audio disks, DVD-R/DVD+R Data (!) and Video Disks and Jpeg Picture Disks) it has superb sound quality (using either the optical audio or RCA 5.1 SS jacks) and the picture quality is suprisingly crisp and true. The only thing I couldn't get it to read so far is an unfinalized Panasonic DVD-RAM disk. The onscreen menus and remote are intuitive such that you can navigate pretty well without even resorting to reading the dreaded instruction manual. I highly recommend this player foremost for its format versatility, disc capacity and choice sound, but also for the DVP quality. Pop in two commerical CDs, a couple DVDs and a choc-full 4.9 gigs of your fav audio files on a data disk and your in couch potato heaven.
