    "Does everything!" on by BaltikaTroika

Pros: Plays everything you can throw at it, multiregion with remote hack, plays PAL or NTSC

Cons: None yet as far as I can tell!

Summary: I picked this up at a Canadian Walmart for $59. To be honest, I had SEVERE doubts about it (which is why I bought it from Walmart - really good return policy).

I needed a cheap player that will play (legally purchased) Russian discs (PAL/SECAM with various regions). The player is very easy to region hack with the remote control: OPEN tray, press STOP, press 2-3-7-9, choose region 0, press OK, press EXIT SETUP, and OK again. That's it! It will read discs from every region.

The player will read PAL discs right out of the box with no hacks or modifications. It plays MP3s (or shows photos) from either CD or DVD, although Russian characters are not displayed (not a surprise).

Most impressive was that it played EVERY Divx disc that I tried in it. I made these discs myself with a Divx 5 encoder. It will even fast forward and doesn't seem to get out of audio synch.

Doesn't read Fuji xP memory cards, but will read almost everything else. Has a USB port to read/play movies from USB keys, but haven't tried it. Send me a USB key and I'll test it. :)

I'm absolutely amazed with this player! It does everything I want it to (and more - USB, memory cards, IR headphone support, etc). Google's still better, but until they release a DVD player, I'll love my Yahoo YDP-530.

"SICK! Get it now!" on by dopeuser

Pros: looks cool, cheap, compatible with everything

    Cons: I'm sure theres something...

Summary: Got this at WalMart (in Canada) tonight, I think I'll have to go back and pick up a few more! I've owned many dvd players, and compatibility is the #1 feature I look for. This plays dvd, vcds, svcds, mp3, audio-cds, jpeg, mpeg, divx, xvid, etc. and reads from original discs, or from dvd-r's, cd-r's, or memory cards and even usb-drives!
And the analog meters top it off for me, thats just perfect, and it nicely (soft of) matches my silver Marantz amp with the 2 vu meters.
And the price? $59 CDN! thats about $49 US. I know for a fact there are way better quality dvd players out there, and I also know if you burn some jpegs, mp3s, and xvids onto a dvd-r, the high end players wont play them! So for style, quality, compatibility, and price, this dvd player gets a 9/10 from me.

    "Great Player" on by docbillwho

Pros: plays everything I have thrown at it

Cons: lousy remote, not universal remote compatible

Summary: I can't believe all the people giving bad reviews of this product who apparently have not even tried it. I purchased a ks5132 yesterday and returned it this morning it was so lousy. I then stopped by Walmart to see what they had in DivX players, and by luck found this one for only $59.99. (They had three more in stock.) We spent the evening watching AVI's, and it played everything I threw at it. The video output is good. I can't commend about the progressive output as our TV doesn't support it, but the component out is a good clear picture. The AVI's rendered identical to the way they rendered on the computer. The box list DivX 3,4, and 5 support but I had no Xvid, and DivX 6 files.

    Updated
It took me awhile to realize, but often when playing xvid videos the ydp-530 will skip a few seconds here or there. It always occurs right before a seen change. I only notice at first when I played some videos I had previously watched on my computer and noticed some of my favorite quotes from the show missing. The problems always occur at the same point. If there is an error while playing you will have to fast forward at 8x to get back to the same spot in the movie.
Also, sometimes pausing will cause audio to lose sync.

In general the player performs better on divx videos. In fact I converted my xvid videos to divx5 and now they play without skipping my favorite quotes.

"great, machine, nice look ,very cool" on by g-manrocks

    Pros: look, color, style

Cons: zoom display is always on when using. Ahhhh !

Summary: Can the zoom display be turned off when using the feature to watch a movie. With it on all the time it interfears with the movie and is somewhat of an eye sore. Other than that love the deck. Thanks for your time. g-manrocks
