"I'm happy overall with the service, but will look at Vonage when the offer local area code"
Pros: Very clear quality calls; good, loud, clear volume
Cons: cannot port number; priced higher than other VoIP services
Summary: I chose AT&T because it's a big name company and I feared going with a small company for lack of reliability. I've been very happy with the service and customer service. The reps are helpful and actually call you back when they say they will. The few issues that I had problems with (ended up being a bad wireless access point that I had for two years - nothing to do with AT&T or the service) the technical staff was very patient and did not immediately dismiss the problem as being "not their problem" as lots of companies do now. They patiently helped me troubleshoot the issue and I've just been happy with the service overall.
One MAJOR CON is that I was unable to port over my phone number that I've been using for over seven years. I was very disappointed in this. I still have the number reserved and am looking at getting it ported to vonage or Lingo. Currently Vonage doesn't offer a local area code in my area, this automatically ruled them out, otherwise I probably woudn't have even looked at AT&T's service. The fact that number portability is so important to me as it should be to most customers and that AT&T could NOT port my number over, was a MAJOR downer for my review and this is why I gave AT&T a 7 instead of like 9.
I'm happy with the billing, online information and configuration options, etc.
I do think they should offer a 2nd phone line discounted to current customers, but you have to pay a full $19.99 for a 2nd line if you choose. I decided against it for now.
