"great overall, you get what you pay for"4.5 starson by davaal
Pros: cheap, ease of use, voicemail online, call forwarding - lots of features
Cons: customer service sucks, goes out along with lights or cable
i've had Vonage for over a year and i like it. i like that i can forward calls directly to my cell phone. it allowed me to have a home phone number to give to utilities and employers and people i dont like - but still answer it on my cell phone. i set it to ring my cell immediately, but then goto voicemail after 30 seconds. that way i could ignor the call and let it go to home VM or send it to my cell VM. i talk on the home phone and then forward it to my cell as i walk out the door. I can adjust my voice quality. i have it running behind my router rather than in front of it per the instructions, so it doesnt dominate bandwidth. I talk on it and play halo 2 online while my girl surfs the net with no problems. i can see how bandwidth it might be a DSL issue. I set up a phantom number so my mother could dail locally and still get me on my cell.
i'm killing my service because i dont want to run my home security system thru it. when the power goes out or my internet goes down (damn you time warner) my home is defenseless. my power brick burned out and i sat on the phone 35 MINUTES to finally get a hold of someone in pakistand or india. he promised that i would receive a new brick 2-day male. well, its been a damn month. i cant even set my damn alarm. so i'mma have to get the smallest Baby Bell package i can find. UGH. i really like it too.
