Pros Economical, practical, and just plain fun!
Cons Much slower with four people inside!
Summary I shouldn't have waited so long to get this fun little car. I filled up the other night on 8.9 gallons. I gave up a gas hog SUV and couldn't be happier. Car has plenty of pep with two or less passengers. Will easily do 80mph on the freeway. Best of all it has room to put your loot from Home Depot or the grocery store and at 31mpg city, 35mpg freeway. Minimalistic dash provides for less distractions. Some call it ugly, I call it so ugly it's cute. Handles like a go-cart (which is fun if you don't remember). RUSH to your Scion dealer and drive one! Some may snicker at it's design, I snicker when passing the gas station!
Pros Roomy, good gas mileage (30+), seats fold down for cargo space.
Cons No arm rest.
Summary I've had my black cherry xB for over a year now and still love it. It is a great commuter car to and from work as well as a fun cruiser. This car has been very, very good to me, no worries at all and for a middle-aged single lady that's important. Best of all, it runs like a champ past the gas pumps over and over and over again.
Pros Easy to drive, comfy and great mpg
Cons Heater/defrost controls could use a mix between dash/defrost; high rpm at highway speeds
Summary Aside from the heater controls not offering a mix betwen dash and defrost and the higher rpm's at highway speeds it's an excellent car. My average mpg ranged between 33 - 35 (mostly highway driven). The standard options are great for a car in this price range and having stability control on top of traction control and ABS seems now to be a major plus. The xB seems to handle great in bad weather. A great little car, fun to drive and really gets a lot of looks. I think I'll keep this one for quite some time.

Pros Abundance of space for a small car
Cons No cruise, Goodyear tires
Summary This car is a perfect commuter for a family of three. It has outstanding gas mileage, plenty of room and good style. Toyota quality is evident in every aspect of this car's fit and finish. You won't win any drag races with this thing, but you will be laughing all the way to the bank when you fill up the gas tank half as often. Just wish the sucky Goodyear tires where omited for some Michelins or Yokohama's.
Pros Interior space, driver visibility, mpg, features for the money
Cons Underpowered (well, it is an econocar), road noise, no side air bags
Summary After being stuck, at night, in the crappy part of town with a 27" new TV and a Honda Civic (we had to unbox the brand new TV in the parking lot), we vowed to buy something roomier. But not an SUV, because we like the planet.
So we found the xB. So far it's hauled a full sized futon, cabinets, ski stuff, and all of our camping gear - no problem. Plus our friends are happy to sit in the back.
Yeah, it's a little underpowered - so buy the manual! If you know how to drive a manual properly, you'll be fine merging onto the highway and passing. Or opt for the very tempting after-market turbocharger. And see the recent Road&Track road test - they say this car knocks the socks off a Prius.
Another review said theirs was falling apart after a few months. I've had this car for 18 months and have had NO quality issues. Excellent build quality.
And to the reviewer who mentioned "youth image", my dealer says these are mostly selling to young families, not teenagers.
