Pros Added air bags
Cons bigger, thirtiser, ugly
Summary Scion have removed just about everything that inspired us to buy the first-gen xB. The new model is too big, too thirsty and really ugly.
Note to carmakers: Everybody says they wishes their car had more room. That DOESN'T mean they want a bigger car.
Pros Great handling, viewing perspective, FAST, comfortable, lotsa tech!
Cons Hard pressed to find. Wish it were not as low to ground. Rear hatch is a bit low for me.
Summary Okay, okay. I have owned Toyotas and Hondas and lotsa cars. I've had sports cars and SUV's. Driven just about everything... This car is a sure winner and should set a new sales record for Toyota. Just a guess but this tech laden auto is just waiting for options and accessories to make driving FUN again. In the 80's I had a Toyota FX-16 GTS It was fast and low and everybody stared at that car for the 9 years I had it. The same thing is happening to me again I know it's not the box on wheels anymore (the 1st gen Scion xB (which I LOVE) but it is way cool in other ways! Lotsa discussions everywhere about the new look in relation to the old box BUT, that's getting a bit tired, guys. Take this new model for what it is today... One of the best values in the auto industry! Cute, solid, sexy, still boxy, fast, nimble, holds a 50" Plasma with BOX!
To test drive one of these is to buy one so BE CAREFUL! I optioned mine with LED door sills, fog/driving lights, alarm and, the most excellent part... The Stereo Upgrade which seems to tie the whole package together. It includes a real iPod connector integrated to the unit and the steering wheel controls. The speakers are stock and sound great. For me, it has helped bring more music into my life. Who knew that a steering wheel control attached to a great, easy to use sound system matched to an iPod would actually change my listening habits and actually change my driving experience.
The Scion xB, along with the new xD, should really take off this year for Toyota. I know it's not as funky as the old xB but it makes up for that in a solid automobile that feels safe and exciting at the same time. A Toyota dealer recently told me that Toyota doesn't DO 'exciting'. Now they do! This car rocks. Drive one...
"Dee Best!!"on by haydeelicious
Pros Ipod, Navigation, storage
Cons Engine noise & Arm rest
Summary My final decision on getting this vs the Element is the insurance rate. Of course this is considered to be a minivan/sportwagon rather than an SUV. But still feels like driving an SUV with the seat raised.. Ipod connectivity-who uses CD now?? Easy to use Navigation.. Storage a plus.. The only thing I dont like is the engine noise wc i guess is normal for four cylinder engines & the arm rest. Overall this is my best buy.. U should get one for urself too!
