The Bottom Line Although on the pricey side, the 2008 Volvo XC70 is a good-looking practical wagon that feels as if it can go anywhere. Its safety tech is incredibly innovative, but Volvo needs a more integrated strategy for cell phones and digital music players. The 2010 xB is a solid performer with good handling and confident acceleration. However, its poorly integrated cabin technology is a bit five-years-ago, lagging behind that of other OEMs and the aftermarket. If you can figure out the bizarre interface for the electronics in the 2010 Volvo XC60, it can be a pretty satisfying car to drive, but you will end up paying for it at the pump. The redesigned 2008 Volvo V70 is a stylish grocery getter with plenty of get-up-and-go. Its entertainment and active safety tech options are impressive, but its lack of Bluetooth hands-free calling is a disappointment. The 2008 Volvo S80 is one of the more comfortable cars we've tested, and gets good mileage for a car of its size. Cabin tech doesn't go out of its way to work with personal electronics, but the safety gear is cutting edge.
