| Review summary | Although on the pricey side, the 2008 Volvo XC70 is a good-looking practical wagon that feels as if it can go anywhere. Its safety tech is incredibly innovative, but Volvo needs a more integrated strategy for cell phones and digital music players. | The 2008 Subaru Outback XT is a good all-around package, combining useful cabin tech with decent performance and admirable fuel economy from its advanced engine-management system. | Although we aren't crazy about the exterior of the 2007 Chevrolet HHR, we give it credit for making a strong statement. The car is meant for cruising, not for speed, and although it has a full range of tech gear, we don't find OnStar as convenient as onboard systems. | The new Scion xB has lost its bold exterior creases and some of its character, but has also grown up a bit and now represents one of the best tech values we've seen in a new car. | We come down on the side of appreciating the 2007 Audi A3's rowdy behavior off the line, although some people won't. The A3 is a great car by itself, but optional cabin electronics aren't as useful as they could be. |
