"amount the best of the best espec long term reliability" on by josephhafner2
Pros: pickup, gas milage, power and ease of driving, cool factor, xm radio, satillite phone built in, on star, safety features and test scores, long term reliability according to consumer reports
Cons: radio controls on steering wheel would have been nice on 1.8 automatic version. I will probable have to wait several years for 100 m.p.g. efficiency.
Summary: Excellent car for the money. The kids think it is a cool car. I enjoy my hour of daily commute time. Have now had it 18 days and have driven it over 1000 miles.

"Unlike the "pro" review look at the reality here" on by -theTruth
Pros: gas mileage, style, (I get people asking questions about it)
Cons: thin paint (for '05 model anyway)
Summary: Interested people...
DRIVE the car and for the most part ignore the either biased and or unrealistic comparisons of the "pro" review!
I am tired of misleading reviews. I have a '05 vibe (similar to the '09) and I new the car was not going to have the power to move it any faster than a 4 cylinder. This reviewer was complaining that 4th and even 3rd gear had to be used to aggresively move it. If speed is critical look for spending more $ (for the car and the more frequent gas stops) and don't look at a hatchback. Have you seen any makes racing on the pro circuit. NO.
Second, what is the reviewer compairing the handling to. Any stock car in this price range is not going to hold up to a Lexus or BMW, etc. in terms of handling. It handles fine for what the car is meant for. It's stylish, inexpensive, gets decent economy (the non-GT gets better mileage), and having the hatchback is very convenient.
Before I bought, I tested the Scion Xa, Xb, the Toyota Corolla. For that year at least, I could not determine a significant difference in the power department, but for style and the room I needed for work and recreational purposes I was sold on the Vibe/Matrix style. I also liked the "cockpit" feeling (arrangement & feel of the steering wheel, gauges, stick shift). Sure the car is not perfect, but what car is especially at this price range.
Drive the car and others and you make the comparison and you decide. -
"Great car, great price, great mileage, Made in America" on by commonsense____
Pros: This car costs less, gets better mileage, has a higher reliability rating than any of the other small wagons, and it's made in America. My 2007 Vibe is rated for 30 mpg city, 36 mpg highway. I get 35+ mpg in mixed driving, with a range of 34 to 39
Cons: Like all of the small wagons, it's low to the ground. A bit more height would make it better off-road.
Summary: This car costs less, gets better mileage, has a higher reliability rating than any of the other small wagons, PLUS it's made in America. My 2007 Vibe is rated for 30 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, 32 mpg combined. I get 35+ mpg in mixed rush hour driving, with a range of 34 to 39 mpg. This car has a lot of cargo space when you fold the back seat flat. It handles well, and it has plenty of pep for people who don't have lead feet.
