"Bought a 2010 - Great car great mileage in TDI version" on by RodsterinFL
Pros: MPG, fit and finish, features. overall quality level for the price.
Cons: Had to add some items not offered as options
Summary: I must say that I had some reservation buying a VW from the past reliability ratings but so far this is a great car. I bought the TDI model with Nav, auto, iPod integration, 17" spokes and full mat kit. I have since added, fogs, tinting, the high end euro 9w7 bluetooth unit and homelink rearview mirror. The car is more complete now than my Infiniti G37 (2009) that I traded. The 9w7 adds the latest tech to the car activating systems that are disabled otherwise. So far I get 30-32mpg in city driving and 40-46mpg on the hwy. It varies by speed and AC use. Power was what sold me on this car versus the hybrids. It drives like a sport sedan/wagon and is comfortable. I would suggest that anyone lookinfg for a nice car with cargo space is big as an Escape should look at this car.

"Fast Family Fun" on by novaiowa
Pros: 200-HP engine, quick 6-speed manual, first-rate interior, enormous hauling capacity, great mileage
Cons: No auto headlights, interior lights never really dim
Summary: Although most of the Sportwagen attention has fallen on the diesel-sipping TDI, the SEL version with the 2.0T is the perfect car for those wanting practicality and sportiness. It's really in its own league, with a 6-speed manual transmission, 200-HP turbocharged engine, and a list of standard amentities that runs the gamet--heated seats, power/memory driver's chair, leather, dual climate control, Homelink garage door opener, etc. The only option we checked off was the panoramic sunroof. It's terrific and wows anyone in the back seat. Even our baby loves to look out through it. We've also been getting great mileage. Took a trip last weekend and got about 33 mpg with a loaded car, two passengers and the air conditioner running. It goes without saying that this wagon can move, with the same sporty TSI engine as the GLI and GTI. It also has an amazing luggage capacity--more than a Passat wagon with the seats folded down. Unfortunately, this will be a limited edition vehicle. I've learned Volkswagen will not offer the SEL with the 2.0T engine for 2010. Get it while you can.
