"Weak metal on stainless steel drum basket" on by Lily_of_the_Valley

Pros: Looks nice. Little music that plays at the end is more pleasant that my dryer buzz.

Cons: Thin stainless basket does not stand up to average family washing.

Summary: I bought this for $750 Canadian at a major electronics retailer. A month before the manufacturers warranty was due (1 year warranty) I noticed a couple of bumps occuring on the stainless steel drum 'basket' - one was quite prominent and was surely damaging my clothes; another was a bump that had to have occured from inside the drum - how I don't know. One would think that if something managed to get inside the drum, I would hear a banging noise. The technician came and they claim no responsibility. He said it could have been caused by a zipper or other metal item in wash. Am I supposed to remove the zippers from my clothes before I wash them? So I bought a washer that can not handle the mild rigours of a 3 person household. My husband feels that the metal used to make the drum is too fragile. How disappointing. Samsung, you got the last dollar you are getting out of me.

"Good machine but has a loud buzz when the pump is on." on by virgo22sep

Pros: Larger tub, water efficient, energy efficient, lots of good cycles, not too noisy for the first year and a half.

Cons: Off waranty at the one year point and now, six months later, developed a loud buzz when emptying the water.

Summary: Was a really great washer for the first year and a half. Nice features and no problems. The model I own has the same features as this listing but I believe has the bigger tub as I paid a couple of hundred dollars more than the price they are showing for this one. Mine is a WF218. It now has a very loud, obnoxious buzz whenever the pump is running. The call in line person ran a checklist of answers to my questions and was obviously not understanding anything about motors/relays/solenoids. So they want me to have a technician take a look at it. I'm guessing $200-$300 to have the problem fixed. In the last 30 years (yes I'm a senior), I've owned a Maytag, a GE, a Kenmore, and a Whirlpool. All were the better models with extra rinse and multiple cycles. Never had a problem with any of them and used in a four person household. Now the Samsung in a one person household needs fixing after a year and a half. It'll be fixed and then go on Craig's List. Very disappointed in Samsung and from now on will limit my purchase of their brand to electronics.

"Uses little water" on by Carrpo

    Pros: energy efficient
    quiet
    works well

    Cons: none found

Summary: This washer works very well and uses a lot less water than my old hotpoint top loader. It is very quiet and my clothes come out cleaner than before.

"Seemed like a good washer, was highly recommended, but" on by soundman213

Pros: It is fairly quiet except when it is in the spin cycle. It does use less water and detergent.

Cons: It sound like something getting ready to take off when it hits the spin cycle. Your whites never look white. Get used to dull colors too. Thicker materials like towels will stink after only one or two uses after they have been washed.

Summary: I would not recommend this washer, but to be honest, many HE front-loading washers have the same problems. You can help with the odor problem by leaving the washer door open when not in use and by running the hottest cycle it has with only bleach used and of course no clothes. Much of the problem comes from the new environmentally safe detergents that don't work, and the mechanics needed to use less water. I hope in years to come these problems get solved. Till then I'm stuck with this washer.
