"This machine stopped working within 3 weeks of delivery" on by Whirlpool_Disappointed

Pros: None identified. Even free it is not worth it, unless you don't really want to do laundry.

Cons: Still won't run after 4 repair visits and 4 new parts installed. Makes horrible noises even when it works. Clothes aren't clean. I was told by the repairman to "clean" it frequently to help keep it running. Repairman says these are the worst machines

Summary: Don't buy any washer with a clear top! I have had repairmen out 4 times with 4 new parts, and the washer still doesn't work. It just adds a little bit of water and then stops. Whirlpool can't figure out how to fix it. Whirlpool refuses to replace. The repairman says these are the worst machines (any of the ones that are top load and have a clear top) he has ever seen and that I should BUY an extended warranty. He says the bearings in the tub wear out. It makes a really load noise like a jet engine taking off whenever it spins. Whirlpool says that the warranty does not cover replacement. I gave away a perfectly good Bosch that I owned for 6 years that never had a problem. My daughter was given this whirlpool by the Ellen show on mother's day. I bought her a new range because she had a brand new washer. Whirlpool got a lot of publicity by having Ellen use their product. I think Whirlpool knew the machines have a problem and that is why they donated them. I am hoping for a class action suit. The company should stand by their products. I will never purchase a Whirlpool product again.

"Perfect size and features for my household" on by Valentinegirly

Pros: Works great, clothes get clean...not sure why first person said it did not. No agitator which is great when doing sheets and blankets or large bulky items. I am loving it and no problems at all to speak of. Go for it. :)

Cons: Lid locks when in use..but I did find you can press pause button and it will unlock.

"Washer does NOT effectively clean laundry." on by leecorpI

Pros: There is nothing positive to say about this washing machine.

Cons: Bought washer 12/10. Shortly after,I noticed my kitchen towels were looking dinghy. I experimented with two pillow cases washing one in the Whirlpool with bleach and another in a friends 25 yr old Maytag using bleach and Gain. Continued below...

Summary: The cleanliness was visibly different and improved. I entered a complaint with Whirlpool and spoke to a nice Customer Service Representative at Whirlpool's Benton Harbon, MI location. After several very detailed letters, phone calls, a visit by a service technician to verify my machine was functioning satisfactorily, they could do nothing to improve the effectiveness of the washer. The reason is simple: As designed, the washer will not clean clothes. Water levels are too low. the he detergents you must use are not as 'effective' as traditional detergents. The agitator does not create enough turbulence to assist in the washing process. In short, the washer does not meet the simplest, most basic fitness for use requirements. Whirlpool denied my request for a refund/exchange. They also declined any offer to discount another Whirlpool - why would I even consider one after this experience? The CSR rep suggested I use the 'Bulky' setting as the washer computer will use almost a full tub of water. So, what I have now been forced to do is to operate the washer on the 'Bulky' setting and vary the water temps and soil levels. I am now basically running my washer at an on/off' setting. The other thing that defies logic is you must 'deordorize' the machine with a Tide product that will cost you about $100/year. This all goes back to the low water levels the computer selects based on your washing selection. Low water levels are ineffetive and leave a residue/odor.
