Pros Water resistance, solar powered.
Cons Flakey time-sync signal
Summary I've had my Atomic G-Shock watch for several months now and love it. I've found one trick to help with the flakey time-sync signal. Use the plastic stand that comes with it as a stand for the watch at night. I've also found leaving it someplace facing generally North also helps. The buttons are kind of hard to use and could have designed better, but I usually use mine just for the time I don't mind the buttons. The one thing I don't like about it is the band. I'm sure I could change the band but the watch is designed specifically for this band. Using another band would make it obvious it is not the original one.
Pros TOUGH! Atomic timekeeping is flawless, solar charging excellent.
Cons Could use a countdown timer. Buttons are hard to press.
Summary The most reliable watch you could ever buy! G-shock ruggedness, along with atomic time-keeping that is updated daily, and solar charging make this a great buy. Buttons a re recessed and somewhat difficult to press. The "touchless" automatic backlight allows you to just rotate your wrist like you normally do to look at your watch to turn on the backlight. Time record/time memor is a uninspiring feature...I would prefer a countdown timer. Syling leaves something to be desired. Smaller lettering for things like the word "G-shock" would make this watch a little less of a tiny billboard.
Pros Accurate, rugged, solar charged battery
Cons Solar charged battery, big and bulky (as a G-Shock, to be expected)
Summary Like several other reviewers, my Casio GW300 also died a little over a year after purchase. The watch was exposed to direct sunlight at least 40hrs a week, but eventually refused to take a charge. Fortunately, it was purchased at Costco, and they gave me a full refund, no questions asked. Guess I'll be sticking to "old fashioned" replaceable battery powered watches from now on.
Pros Though g shocks Atomic Solar what can be better i hate changing batterys and setting the time
Cons ill admit i never used the warranty cause i always buy a new one
Summary got mine online from www.rinxwatches.com also found some on amazon.com but i still got to go out of my house to get a good solar charge on the watch :)
Pros Stylish, tough, 200m good for scuba diving, larger number display.
Cons Solar power is a useless, frustrating "feature". No count down timer is a big minus.
Summary I've been a G-Shock owner since they came out. I wanted to go for a classier watch than the plastic G-Shock. I settled for the MTG900 in December 2007. The watch is great except for the solar power. I live in Rochester NY. During much of the year I wear long sleeve shirts and coats. I am continually struggling to keep the watch charged. Solar power is a cool idea that is not only useless, but a real dissatisfier. I scuba dove recently in Cozumel. Twice the watch went from fully charged to dead during a dive. When I put it out in the hot Mexican sun for an hour it registered fully charged. I don't think it is supposed to do that. Lastly, I really miss the count down timer, especially when I cook. It would have been far better to scrap the solar power "feature" for a 10 year lithium ion battery and add back in the count down timer. I hope Casio learns from these reviews and changes the watch.
