"Better options out there" on by bostmass
Pros: Good web interface, good spam filters
Cons: With free account, no email forwarding or email access except via web
Summary: With Google Mail on the scene, Yahoo's continued stubbornness to prevent accessing your email from a desktop application like Outlook or Entourage, or the ability to forward your email address to another account, unless you pony up the cash, is simple greed. Even if you have the paid account, you're still inundated with web ads when using the browser interface. Plus the domain @yahoo.com is so synonymous with spam, I'm embarrassed to use it or afraid my email will get flagged as spam by the recipient.

"Great Web Based Email, But No POP Access Hurts." on by keith415
Pros: Easy access to web-based email. Lots of storage on free acount. Nice address book, and other features. Free.
Cons: No POP access. Less storage than gmail.
Summary: gmail offers POP access, and it's free, and it offers more storage. A much better option than Yahoo!
As far as the web-based interface goes, Yahoo! is decent. No complaints there. -
"Yahoo email has horrible customer service" on by psather
Pros: No pros whatsoever
Cons: My email has been down for over a week, they have not helped me at all
Summary: I have used yahoo email for roughly five years. My email stopped working on last Tuesday, August 30th. There is no way for anyone to send me mail, it can't be a space problem and my space quota is no where near maxed out. I sent a message to Yahoo on Tuesday, September 6th, that my email wasn't working. I sent two more messages on the following wednesday, and have so far only got an automated response that clearly means they did even read my email. The response claimed that "Maybe the email was sent after you logged in." I have tested my email numerous times, it is still down. I would not recommend Yahoo email to ANYONE, and will probably switch. My wife has a Hotmail account and when she had a problem, they quickly responded to her. I would rate Yahoo in the negative if I could, no one can email me.

"Yahoo's the best - no comparisons" on by sandhuamans
Pros: Everything, from the inteface to the calendar, and integrated web experience be it with messenger , music, games or anything, YAHOO is no. 1.
Cons: I would say banner ads, that is sometimes irritating, that's the only things
Summary: I prefer it, and its my primary email ID, and other I won't even care about much...
Want the best email: Simply YAHOO! -
"The best features of the best webmail programs." on by aquaeus
Pros: Simple to use; combines the best of many other webmail programs.
Cons: You can't always access it
Summary: I'd always considered Yahoo Mail to be overrated as a webmail service, preferring Fastmail or Gmail. That's changed of late
Yahoo is reliable- when you can manage to sign in. The size of this company, and the volume of email it handles, seems to limit its accessibility at times. This doesn't happen often- just at the worst possible moment! And help with your webmail account (or anything else) can take forever at Yahoo.
Even here, though, I sense an improvement of late.
It's easy to use, and its recent increase to 1 GB storage (ala Gmail) combines with its decision to offer automatic virus scanning (ala Fastmail's paid services) impress me. I'm not ready to give up my Gmail and Fastmail accounts (and I wish, BTW, that CNET would review the latter excellent service; it's one of the best), but I find myself using Yahoo Mail as my primary webmail now. Not long ago that wouldn't have been something I would even have considered.
