• "Does not install on Compaq desktop with AMD Athalon 64 processor"

Pros: ???None that I know of

    Cons: Tech support useless

Summary: Same problem as laptop users mentioned. We have a brand new Compaq desktop and Windows would not recognize the USB device and installation CD would freeze our computer after not installing the driver. Creative's web site didn't have a solution, nor did the rep that came with their 60 days of free telephone support, he said the camera was faulty and to exchange it. After an exchange, we had the same problem as the first time. Should have read the reviews before the first exchange, would have saved a trip. We ended up with the Logitech Pro 5000, no audio problems and great picture after a super fast and easy install. I think Creative needs to update their installation software.

Worst piece of crap that I ever bought.

I am a programmer, so I am techincally savvy.

Installed the first time, at the end of installation, give the stupid warning about driver for USB2.0 is not found for my Win XP SP 2

Dig around, found out that problem was already resolved as my system already has XP SP 2.

Try reinstallting it again, so problem, installation softward hung at the end of installation process. Fine, I power down the PC.

Restart the PC, web cam still doesn't works, so go to exchange it and got another NEW one.

Some old problem, read comments, found many similar comments, installtion doesn't work, so USB device is not regconized by Microsoft. Nice, really wished I had read that before I bought this piece of crap.

Really wonder how did cnet give this piece of junk such high rating.

May be it was because when the review was written, it was for XP SP1, now SP2 come out, this company didn't update the software and try to load the rubish of rebate web site like slick deals. Got suckers like me.

But you know what, after this sucker - me finished writting his comments, his will look for information about the comapny and start shorting the comapny.

Crappy company deserved to be shorted until it become penny stock.

I had the exact same problem. Apparently its a BIOS issue. Updating you BIOS won't do anything to correct the problem. I finally got the cam to work by plugging it into an external powered USB hub. As soon as I did that, the computer instantly recognized the camera and installation completed. That should take care of your issue. However if you want to plug directly into your system, find another camera.
