"Skype Users Stay Away!" on by Truro Potter

Pros: Design, Laptop Clip, Image Quality

    Cons: Incompatibility, Technical Support

Summary: I purchased this webcam for use with my laptop and Skype. I use Skype for business and pleasure. Even though the box has the Skype logo on it, the product is NOT compatible with the latest version of Skype -- 3.5. The video freezes about 15 seconds into any call. I am not the only user with this problem. Check out the Logitech and Skype user forums and you will see that this is common to anyone trying to use this webcam with Skype 3.5. I have not been able to get a straight answer from either Skype or Logitech as to whether they are addressing this issue. So, for now, my advice for Skype users is to buy a different webcam.

We used Skype with this camera during our extended trip to the South Pacific with no problems at all.

I've been using this camera with Skype for quite sometime. I currently use Skype version 3.8, and the camera works flawlessly. I also use the Logitech software with no problems, and have been doing so for a little over a year. I've upgraded Skype a couple of times, and I've never run into any issues. I wish I could advise why mine works, but I wanted to make other users aware there is no compatibility issue. Anyone having problems should verify the settings are correct on their computer. The easiest settings to check, and a good place to start, is Control Panel.

to use with skype try shutting of the logitech software which you can do by right clicking on the logitech icon on the bottom right of the screen in the taskbar. i believe the logitech software interferes with skype so skype should work fine once you turn it off.

I had the same experience. What worked for me was to not use the drivers and logitech software at all (or in my case I installed the drivers and then uninstalled it be specific) then replugged in the camera and turned on skype. It works fine now, the picture is very sharp, though I am not sure what doesn't work now that I don't use the logitech specific drivers and software (rightlight for example). Otherwise the clarity of this camera is fantastic, I tested it side by side with iSight and another camera too.
