"Finally! And it works great too!"
on by victorckmPros Makes complete sense!
Good video and sound quality
ConvenientCons Lack video conferencing. Perhaps a software update will solve this in the future.
Summary I have always wanted Skye on a large screen TV and had hooked up an old PC I have around to my 60" LCD TV for that purpose. Challenge is my PC is not always turned on.
Here comes the TV Cam HD from Logitech that answers that very need!
It delivery exactly what I had wanted, Skype on my TV and always ON so I don't miss any calls. Video and sound quality is great.
Set up was very easy. I use the wifi since I didn't have a network outlet nearby. This did not affect its quality.
Next improvement I hope for - video conferencing. I have that on my PC as I subscribe to it, but I didn't find that function on this TV Cam. Hopefully it will come as a future improvement.
Fully recommended. -
"Beautifully Does What it is Suppose Too,Built for Skype"
on by OscarTrejoNowPros easy setup, skype pre-installed, great call and 720p video quality, friendly user interface, the zoom in and out feature on the remote,
Cons not 1080p but could be featured in next iteration, $199 price tag, difficult to figure out conference calling
Summary The TV Cam HD was sent over to my house by Logitech to try out. I am so happy they did because I can't stop using Skype with it. Been calling my friends all over the US and Canada. Maintains the beautiful 720p quality in all video calls with no problem. Plus kept great quality with the voice calls I made. I should admit though that my internet is in the 24 MBPS range, but does not require a connection that fast to use.
The setup was so easy and I went through it without any problems. Connecting the cam to the internet with both through ethernet cable and then installing the wi-fi was simple. Signing in was very simple as well, my skype name and password are pretty long so tedious going back and forth on the on screen one line keyboard. Whenever I would make an error I would have to go all the way to one side of the keyboard where the backspace was located. One time thing though so nothing to worry about.
One little great perk is that the TV Cam rings when I don't have my TV on, so I have not missed one call yet. One of the most entertaining features is being able to zoom in and out from the very big angle of the room the camera captures. My cousins were so jealous when I started zooming in and out, with the picture staying very crisp and beautiful. Before I use to use my Logitech C920 webcam, but prefer the wide angle lens that the TV Cam offers.
Had a little problem figuring out how to conference call, but I will figure it out. I am glad that I was allowed to try out the camera and will definitely recommend to all my friends that use Skype. I'll let them know that this camera is worth the $199, but a $25 or $50 price reduction would attract more people. -
"Best TV CAM HD for Skyping. No hands and no computer!"
on by foxhunt888Pros It is a plus to be able to mount it on the flat screen or use it on a tripod.
The HD resolution is great and the picture is clear and sharp.
Multiple accounts can be added to the TV HD CamCons When your in a sub menu and to back out you would usually use left arrow on the remote, then right before getting to the main menu you would have to hit the select button. Why not just continue with the left arrow
No component or composite outputsSummary The picture is outstanding and it gives a whole new meaning to Skyping. I can be any where in the house and make or answer my video calls without having to wait for the computer to boot up. The yet the next best part of having the TV CAM HD is I can take it with me any where like to a friends house, to the office, on trip or to another state. All I need to do is connect it Wireless or via Ethernet and hook it up to a screen via HDMI.

"Logitech does it again"
on by johnboy2000Pros good picture quality
easy to setup
looks cool on top of the tv
missed call light
wide angle camera for the whole family
don't a need a pc any more for cameraCons interface with remote and skype need some work but not bad
needs louder ringer for callsSummary We love this camera no pc required, so i installed the camera on the family room tv and in a flash i had skype working. It took longer to lonin to skype than setup the camera. It ever rings like a phone if the tv is off to let you know some is calling on skype. Now the whole family is in the picture and not around a desk chair and pc also the camera has zoom. well worth the money on saved phone bills. Picture quality is very good and uses HDMI connection on the tv.

"Skype on your TV!!!"
on by taing247Pros picture quality, sound, ease of use, and ease of setup, WIFI
Cons unit is a little long, stand is a lil flimsy, no answer button on the actual unit itself.
Summary I recently received this item and couldnt wait to try this out. Setup was a breeze, and once the unit powered on, it guided you through step by step. On initial setup, the unit froze up on me when trying to update. I powered off and on the unit and didnt have any more issues on configuration. At first glance i thought i had to plug it in via ethernet cord, but to my suprise, the TV Cam came with a built in adaptor. Definitely a plus.
Once i signed into my Skype account and tested the unit by having a video chat with one of my friends. He stated that he could see me much more clear due to the 720P camera. He was also able to hear me clearly with the built in microphones. I wanted to see what would happen if i had my tv on a different input and had my same friend call me, So when i switched the input i noticed that i wasnt getting any sound on my dish tv thats connected to a Logitech Revue. Easy fix was to reboot the Revue and everything started working fine again. I had my friend call me now when the input was changed and the ringer on the unit was great, My only gripe was that if it rings, you have to click the ok on the remote in order to answer it or set it as auto answer calls, which i did not want to do. So basically if you momentarily dont have the remote with you, you wouldnt be able to answer. Wish they implemented an answer button on the unit itself.
All in all i would definitely recommend this to anyone who uses Skype quite a bit. Picture quality is great, audio quality was great. Unit is a little on the long size but not a deal breaker. Great product Logitech, now i dont have to be on my computer or cell phone in order to Skype with people.
