"great price for what you get" on by saverver
Pros: good quality over all
Cons: the only thing I don't like about it is the short cable

"FAR exceeded my expectations!" on by VladTI
Pros: -Works effortlessly on a Mac
-Crisp video quality, whole image always in focus.
-Smooth video playback and recording
-Outstanding audio quality, considering it's a USB webcam mic
-Just keeps working without glitches, in my case at least! (see below)Cons: -Kinda pricey, I guess, (but I found it to be a great deal, all things considered).
-Can't make me coffee in the mornings.Summary: As you can probably tell, I love this little camera! It's been working flawlessly and constantly for me for over a year, and here's the real story: Happily voiding my warranty on the very day of purchase, I hung it outside my front door (since the door phone thingy is shot)--mostly just to see how it would look--where it has since had to face the elements. Taped to a rain drainage pipe, hanging from a 5m USB cable and utterly unprotected, it has, over the past year, withstood two local volcanic eruptions (and, more importantly, the ash that followed), heavy rains, extreme temperature changes and a brutal, arctic winter; all without as much as a stutter or a whimper. I'm not a Microsoft fanboy by any stretch of the imagination but I am in awe of how this thing performs.
Again, the audio and video quality is nothing short of excellent; I would challenge those who have given this camera bad reviews (claiming that they don't work on Macs, even!) based on poor video, framerate or audio to consider the age-old acronyms PEBKAC ("Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair") and PICNIC ("Problem In Chair Not In Computer"). It's a crying shame that such a great webcam would get such a bad review based on, from what I can see, user errors.
To be fair, I have no idea how the included software works; I would never think of using bundled software. So I'm pretty much reviewing the hardware, I suppose. Also, I can't imagine where anyone could buy it for $100... Maybe they bought two and didn't notice? -
"way over-priced for what you get" on by smed58
Pros: the way it attaches is good
Cons: video speed is very slow, audio quality is mediocre at best
Summary: I recently purchased this webcam and I'm very disappointed with it. I wanted the best audio/video available. I first purchased the Logitech Pro 9000 but it was not compatible with my system. So I returned that for the MicroSoft LifeCam Show. Nowhere do they ever mention the speed of the video. I guess thats because it records at maybe 8 frames per second. The industry standard is 30 fps with some as much as 60 fps, and they cost less than half the price of this $100 piece of crap. I've also noticed that if they have a complaint department, it sure is hard to find. Guess thats because they are well aware of the crappy over-priced products they're putting out, and once they get your money, they don't care how disappointed they know you're going to be.
