"marvel ultimate alliance"
Pros: Wii controls
Cons: no online play
Summary: I beat this game on normal mode in about a week. I could've taken longer and the narrator at the end of the game told me the repercussions of the actions I took (or didn't take) during the game. For example, since I didn't save Jean Grey in Mephisto's realm she returned as Dark Phoenix. This nonlinearity of game play was summarized and narrated at the end of the game so I didn't get to "experience" the results.
The controls for this game are love it or hate it. This is my second game for Wii (Zelda Twilight Princess was my first) so I am still pretty new to the controls. I can't believe anyone would have as much fun playing this game if they had to cycle thru all of the POWER moves (which you can still do if you choose). But memorizing a few basic controls makes the game much more involved. You could simply melee everyone although this would be boring, time consuming, make having multiple choices for characters useless, and be more like gauntlet and less like a Marvel game. I would memorize 2-3 power moves for every character (they are always the same motion for the same type of attack) and have one power in the cue cycle. So I could boost my character or the team, then perform power moves in succession which would take forever if I had to cycle thru each move individually. For example, you stun someone with Thing, lift them in the air with Human Torch, grab them in midair with Invisible Woman, then fling them across the map so Deadpool can teleport and kill them. This would be a near impossible combination on PS3 or XBOX360 but takes just a minute of practice on the Wii. Another example would be using one character. Take the Thing and uppercut someone into the air, clap them on their way down, then earthquake when they are on the ground. Three POWER moves in a row that you would have to cycle thru each one on any other system; but on the Wii I hold B and motion up, then hold B and motion left, then hold B and motion down.
Adding online cooperative mode would've pushed this game into one of the best launch title games category. I suspect a sequel will be making its way out soon and I will have it preordered.
