"28 reviews before mine and the RTM isn't out yet"

by stringboy on August 1, 2009

Pros: According to the review (which is all everyone has to go on) it looks faster (but isn't) and the UI is better than the Mac UI (but I never use a Mac so ???).

Cons: No Classic UI option like XP had, especially the Control Panel, which everyone who understood how to use a computer reverted to upon installation. 32 bit, other than in appearance, adds nothing for the standard user who could care less about the OS.

Summary: I am happy everyone seems to love what they have not seen or used, but it doesn't seem to make sense to go wild about it. yes, some have used the release candidate, but it isn't the product in question. Wait a couple of months and come back to read reviews when they actually represent reviews and not fanboys/employees of Microsoft.

Nobody said reviewers didn't know what they were talking about. I only made the point that you cannot buy it, yet 28 reviews existed and 27 of them were 5 star positive. It looks suspicious and it does not reflect normal users or usage.

If someone is going to upgrade to 7 it needs to be for a reason and speed is paramount to every user, including my parents in their 80s (not yet forty myself). You can focus on the pretty parts of the interface all you want, but most users opt for performance over pretty.

Really. I am glad you love your operating system. I tend to like the apps that run on it.

You know, the interesting fact about Beta testing is that it allows people to test the product. After testing the product, refined or not, the opinion seems (and is) very positive. We are not just happy with it because it's better than Vista. We are happy with it because it is better than anything currently available (sorry Mac). Mac users are loud and proud (for reasons I will never understand) so don't get upset when actual PC users show a little pride in something they have enjoyed with their own eyes and fingers.

so you say that ll the good scores that everyone is giving are suspicious..........Please go and insvetigate a little before saying that ......The release candidate of Windows 7 has been out for a while as a free install.....i am running it in my laptop.......all the people who reviewed this probably gave it a 5 score because they been having a blast with the RC as i am...........so please before saying stupid things do your homework .....The RC is 90 % of the final product ........so yeah,.....we have experience with the system and are perfectly capable of giving our rating and impressions

I'm neither a fanboy or an employee of Microsoft. I'm just impressed with the product.

And you can Hardly say that the RC and the RTM will have enough differences between them to make us change our mind. MS would have to put a lot of effort into sabotageing the RTM for it to be as horrible as you think it will be.

You can't accuse anyone here of not knowing what we are talking about, because it's not apples and oranges, it's grown apples and ripe apples.

    Cheers,

    Ubi

First of all, if you care that people are reviewing it before it is out, THEN WHY DID YOU REVIEW IT?

Secondly, it is out. The release candidate has been out for month, and I've been using it as the primary operating system on my netbook, as well as the secondary operating system on my desktop.

Thirdly, I don't know why everyone expects it to be faster than XP. I agree vista was initially too slow, but 7 runs alot nicer now (especially on lower end hardware like my netbook), even it's a tad slower than XP. Any hardware you can buy today is totally overpowered for XP, and should have absolutely no problem running 7.

And btw, what exactly do you think is going to change between the RC and the retail version? The RC was finalized, except for tweaks and such to optimize it. You can't just say these reviews are from fanboys and employees. I am neither, but after using the RC, I'm completely convinced. Go try it yourself instead of giving it mediocre reviews without actually trying it.
