Cons Flipping from metro to desktop is to chaotic. Its like living in America you are under a dual citizen ship. You have to obey the laws of Metro and the laws of Windows like state and federal laws. It destroys legacy apps and forces you into metro. on by goreala | Read full review

Cons The hidden controls on the edges are confusing
The 'formerly Metro' interface is completely unnecessary for the desktop
Not intuitive
Does not work well with mouse
System Apps Icons are ugly on by AJG69 | Read full review -
Cons Metro.
Win8 is supposed to be intuitive, but it isn't.
Users will learn it and adapt.
What else is there to say when some of the best advice given to people is to down Start8, or Classic Shell which returns UI elements removed from Win7? on by decadre | Read full review -
Cons 1) The pros listed above for anyone other than a first time user
2) Lack of organization in the Metro interface
3) Very steep learning curve
4) Interface is challenging if not using a touch screen
5) Simple tasks have become cumberbersome on by netlord80 | Read full review -
Cons oppressive dashboard full of 2-dimensional news-flash-centered pictures
even more of the OS is hidden and useless
other than a redesigned interface, what's new and needed?? on by wessonjoe | Read full review -
Cons Start screen serves no purpose over Desktop. The tiles have limited functionality including no navigation, etc. at the top of the page. If you "hover" over anything it opens automatically whether you want it to or not. Learning curve is horrendous. on by PLM68 | Read full review

Cons No visual pizzaz. Removes aero glass. Takes desktop computing back to 1991. Where everything was two dimensional and people didn't know how to make attractive user interfaces. on by bjs1701d | Read full review

Cons No need for this upgrade if you are using an Office Computer. on by Robert_Butler | Read full review

Cons too many to mention with only 5000 characters on by 5cmorris5 | Read full review

Cons It's clunky, non-intuitive for mouse-users, and not nearly as productive as Windows 7 straight out of the box. I want much finer control of my computer than I get with 8 Metro! I feel very restricted when using 8. on by jjdawson7 | Read full review

Cons This update is way over the top (in a bad way). The startup times are slow (unlike the ads state), and the experience is too "simplified" (it is now impossible for advanced users to use). The metro interface focuses on mobile users not desktop users. on by SamS1296 | Read full review

Cons -Interface is ugly and not very pleasing
-Metro not very effective on a non-touchscreen
-Metro seems less organized than the old start menu
-Not very user friendly for desktop users
-Less customization options
-Too big of a learning curve on by DaMonkeyOnCrack | Read full review -
Cons NOTHING WORKS. It feels like whole chunks of the OS are missing or have lowered functionality. on by MunchieMonster | Read full review

Cons Bipolar, schizophrenic. When I'm working at a desk with a keyboard and a mouse I don't want and don't need the Windows 8 mobile experience. When I'm mobile I want to run mobile apps. But Windows 8 doesn't sense or adapt to my situation. on by Bob_Katopolis | Read full review

Cons It's a mobile OS. Too many compromises to make for the sake of the "Metro" UI getting in the way on the desktop. IE is still behind the curve of other modern web browsers and you are forced into a full screen mode that shows its mobile roots. on by ppgreat | Read full review

Cons The MS app store needs more apps or it will fail to succeed on ARM PCs.
Although it works great on a laptop or desktop, MS should make Win8 a little more mouse and KB friendly.
There should be a Demo on Win8 to teach people how to use win8. on by MrCookies | Read full review -
Cons 1) Resource Hog: Slows down your computer
2) Coupon for $14.99 doesn't work
3) No Tutorial: You'll figure it out?
4) Download takes a log time: Your day is Microsoft's isn't it?
5) Your New security / anti-virus may not be compatible!

Cons Upgrading from 7 took much longer than advertised and ended up having to be undone. I had Cons. Prev. installed on its own, on a different disk, but somehow the upgrade from 7 to 8 RTM got intertwined. Windows 8 RTM became unbootable. 16 hours lost. on by Diluvium | Read full review

Cons Too simplistic of user interface (boring - it is a pro and a con), customization is limited, apps can not be easily organized, cost of Angry Birds is $4.99, a free app everywhere else. Apps are in their very early stages, and it shows. on by raymondfree | Read full review
