2.5 starson by decadrePros: Really awesome system tools and background OS features. Quick boot, unbelievably improved task manager, most productivity apps run noticeably quicker.
Cons: Metro.
Win8 is supposed to be intuitive, but it isn't.
Users will learn it and adapt.
What else is there to say when some of the best advice given to people is to down Start8, or Classic Shell which returns UI elements removed from Win7?Summary: Unless you've tried to RTM and like it, I'd suggest that most people stay with Win7 until they have to upgrade. If you haven't tried Win8 yet, head on out to a electronics store and give a display model a trial run before purchasing a new PC Win8.
Additionally, I may be wrong on this but I think you will still be able to get a new PC with Win7 until sometime in the summer of 2013. So you have sometime to research this still.

I keep seeing reviews talking about the UI, no start button, and whatnot, but it's obvious you guys are not even taking the time to learn the start button is there. The shortcut keys fill all of the needs and beyond. The charms bar is there for start, shutdown, and other utilities.
I wish people would take the time to learn the OS, for that matter, learn how software works period. -
Great Review. I just bought a PC with Win8(Grrrr)
Tradeoff for "Intuitive" is handing over total control to MS. True, users will adapt, but only after much frustration.
There's so much marketing data collection going on in the background that any performance improvement is lost.
It's so bad I want to wipe the drive and load Win7 - problem is you can't buy it from MS anymore. Guess I'll need to go underground. -
I like Win 8 better than all of the rest. You just need to get used to the user interface. I did that in a day.
By all means, UPGRADE. -
Windows 9 will be very similar to Windows 8. They will just add new features, possibly bring back the Start Menu because so many people are having problems learning to use the Start Screen like W8 intends. Microsoft is putting everything they've got into this new OS so not much is going to change for a bit.
